The Class System in OGame
With the redesign, OGame introduced a class system that specialises each player in one of three playstyles. The choice of class affects bonuses to production, combat or exploration and shapes the entire strategy. Each class is fully playable and competitive — the question is which playstyle suits you.
Class 1: The Collector
The Collector is the economic specialist amongst the three classes. His focus lies on maximum resource production and efficient raw material extraction. Those who prefer building to fighting and want to develop their planet into a productive machine are right here.
Collector Bonuses
- Increased resource production on all planets
- Additional Crawler slot (Crawler is an exclusive ship of the Collector)
- Energy bonus for power plants
- Improved trading with the Merchant function
When to Choose Collector?
If you prefer the "Miner" playstyle — long-term development, patient resource accumulation, minimal warfare. The Collector is ideal for players who want to win through economic superiority rather than military strength. Also recommended for beginners, as the higher production accelerates development.
Class 2: The General
The General is the warlord. His class is focused on fleet operations, combat effectiveness and quick military actions. Raiders who launch daily attacks and grow through captured resources benefit most from this class.
General Bonuses
- Increased fleet speed (faster attacks and return)
- Increased combat strength for all ships
- Improved Recycler: larger cargo capacity when collecting debris fields
- Bonus to the Alliance Combat System (ACS)
When to Choose General?
If you actively attack, harvest debris fields and supplement your resources through raids. The General rewards daily activity and strategic timing. Those who attack in the morning, collect debris and fleetsave again in the evening get the maximum out of this class.
Class 3: The Explorer
The Explorer is focused on exploration and expansion. Expeditions into the unknown, extended phalanx range and additional planet slots make this class unique. For players who prefer to explore the universe rather than wage war, the Explorer is the right choice.
Explorer Bonuses
- Better expedition results: more resources, ships and Dark Matter from expeditions
- Extended phalanx range (better tracking of enemy fleets)
- Additional planet slot (one more planet than other classes)
- Research speed bonus
When to Choose Explorer?
If you regularly send expeditions and want to profit from the finds — resources, ships, Dark Matter. The additional planet slot also gives the Explorer an economic advantage in the long term. For players who like to map the universe and enjoy surprises, the Explorer is ideal.
