Events in OGame: Why they matter
OGame has been active for over 20 years and Gameforge keeps the game alive through regular events. Events are time-limited actions that boost certain gameplay areas, create new challenges or offer rewards for active players. Those who use events strategically gain significant advantages over players who ignore events.
Event planning is an integral part of experienced OGame players: saving resources before events, deploying fleets optimally during events and stocking up on artefacts during expedition events. Events are multipliers for efforts you make anyway — but only if you're prepared.
Event types overview
| Event Type | Bonus | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| Titan Clash | Alliance competition with rewards | Active alliances, combat players |
| Expedition Event | Better expedition finds, more artefacts | All players, especially explorers |
| Resource Event | Increased production rate of all mines | Miners, builders |
| Speed Event | Faster construction, research or fleets | All, especially builders |
| Happy Hour | Production bonus for one hour | All players short-term |
Titan Clash: The grand alliance event
The Titan Clash is the most prestigious event in OGame. Alliances compete against each other and collect points through coordinated actions. Combat actions, debris field collecting, expeditions and other gameplay activities contribute to the alliance score. The best alliances of the event receive rewards for all members — typically Dark Matter, exclusive items or other bonuses.
Preparation for Titan Clash
- Coordination in the alliance: Who does what, when and against whom?
- Build up fleets before the event — more ships mean more action potential
- Increase fleetsave discipline: More enemy attacks are to be expected during the event
- Prepare ACS attacks for maximum point yield
- Save resources for ship production during the event
Expedition events
Expedition events are attractive for virtually every player — regardless of class and playstyle. During an expedition event, the finds from expeditions increase significantly: more resources, more ships, more Dark Matter and especially more artefacts. For lifeform development, expedition events are the most productive phases in the entire game year.
Maximum yield from expedition events
- Keep all available expedition slots permanently occupied — no empty pause
- Send the largest possible expedition fleets for better finds
- Take Pathfinders along (Explorer class) for additional expedition bonus
- Reserve artefacts won during the event directly for planned lifeform technologies
Resource events
During resource events, all mines produce increased amounts of metal, crystal and deuterium. This bonus applies automatically for the entire duration of the event — without additional actions. Miners benefit the most, but fleeters who need to finance their ship production also derive considerable benefit.
Using resource events optimally
- Empty storage beforehand through investments in buildings, ships or research
- Ensure maximum storage capacity during the event
- Deliberately postpone large construction projects to after the event to use the cheaply saved capital
- Build up deuterium reserves for fleetsave and research
Speed events
Speed events accelerate construction processes — either building construction, shipbuilding, research or fleet speed. These events are particularly valuable when you're waiting for a specific technology or a specific ship. Those who fill their build queue during speed events with long, expensive projects save considerable real time.
Tip for speed events
Save long and expensive research like Astrophysics, high hyperspace levels or the Death Star specifically for research speed events. What normally takes weeks can be shortened to days this way.
Happy Hour
Happy Hour is a short-term production bonus that applies for a limited time — often just one hour. Those who are active during this hour and collect their resources before storage fills up benefit maximally. Happy Hour is usually announced at short notice and requires quick reaction.
