What are Set Bonuses in Metin2?
Set Bonuses are additional, powerful bonus stats that you receive when you equip multiple items from a specific event or costume set simultaneously. Instead of just using the base values of individual items, the system rewards players for matching their equipment thematically.
Set Bonuses can be so strong that a complete set – for example from a Christmas or Halloween event – represents the absolute best option for rapid levelling and farming. Understanding these bonuses is a key feature of experienced Metin2 players.
What do Set Bonuses consist of?
In Metin2, Set Bonuses are made up of a combination of cosmetic, temporary items and sometimes premium items. The exact composition varies greatly depending on the event. Basically, a distinction is made between fixed base components and flexible event extensions.
The base components (almost always included)
- Costume (Body): The main costume that changes the appearance of your character.
- Costume Hairstyle (Head): The visual headpiece that matches the costume.
The flexible components (optional depending on the event set)
- Pet: A thematically matching companion animal (often with its own duration and bonuses).
- Weapon Skin: Thematically matching visual weapon sheaths.
- Premium Item: Powerful item shop items such as the Lollipop of Strength or Lollipop of Power.
The requirements for the maximum set bonus differ from event to event! Not every set requires a pet, weapon skin or premium lollipop. While costume and hairstyle typically form the foundation for the first bonus, the flexible components supplement the set. If an event set requires a lollipop or weapon skin for the highest bonus, a corresponding sale usually takes place in the item shop at the same time so you can complete your set.
Wearing at least two parts from the same set family activates the first bonus. The more parts you combine, the stronger the unlocked set bonus becomes.
Set Bonus Table (Exemplary Scaling)
| Set Combination | Required Parts | Exemplary Set Bonus |
|---|---|---|
| 2-part Set | Base: Costume + Hairstyle | +50 % EXP |
| 3-part Set | Base + 1 flexible component (e.g. Pet or Weapon Skin) | +100 % EXP, +3 % Strong Against Monsters |
| 4-part Set | Full Set (Base + 2 flexible components, e.g. Pet & Lollipop) | +150 % EXP, +5 % Strong Against Monsters, +5 % Magic/Melee Attack |
Why every class benefits from Set Bonuses
Since Set Bonuses in Metin2 provide universal values such as EXP bonuses, "Strong Against Monsters" or general magic and melee attack, they are not bound to specific classes. In fact, a complete event set is a massive advantage for every class in PvE.
Rather than differentiating by class, the set bonus shines when it comes to your gameplay goals:
- When Levelling: The massive EXP boost (often up to +150 %) noticeably speeds up the grind – whether you're levelling a Warrior or a Shaman.
- When Farming (Bosses & Metinstones): The offensive bonuses scale excellently with every build. Every character needs maximum damage output to defeat bosses quickly, destroy metinstones efficiently and secure the best loot.
Set vs. Individual Items: When is what worth it?
The eternal question in Metin2: Is a good costume enough or do I need the whole set?
- Prefer Set when: You want to be maximally efficient in PvE levelling or farming. The combination of EXP boost and additional damage cannot be matched by individual items. Once the event is running and the flexible parts (such as weapon skins or lollipops) are on sale, it's worth grabbing to activate the maximum bonus.
- Prefer Individual Items when: You're in PvP. Here the set bonus barely matters (since bonuses like monster damage or EXP are useless) – instead it comes down to the fine-tuned resistances of individual costume pieces. Even if you don't want to invest in a complete set, you'll often do better with heavily bonused individual costumes.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do Set Bonuses work in Metin2?
As soon as you equip two or more items from the same event set, the set bonus icon is automatically activated in the top left of your buff bar and you receive the additional status values.
Are there Set Bonuses for normal swords and armour?
The classic set bonus typically applies to temporary costumes, weapon skins, pets and premium amulets. Normal equipment (swords, helmets, armour) uses a different system that focuses on high-level upgrades (set effects).
