Metin2 — MMORPG with a deep crafting system

Metin2 offers a multi-layered crafting system that goes well beyond simple item combining. Mining provides the raw materials, smithing and crafting transform them into useful items, and alchemy refines and enhances gear. These systems interconnect and give players an additional progression path alongside classic dungeon loot.

What makes Metin2's crafting special is how organically it's woven into gameplay. Farming automatically yields crafting materials. Mining generates Yang on the side along with useful items. No system stands in isolation.

Mining — raw materials for everything

Mining is the foundation of the crafting system. Using a pickaxe in specialised mining zones, you uncover a variety of ores and raw materials. These form the basis of crafting recipes and hold real value on the player market.

Key mining materials

  • Iron ore — the base for smithing work
  • Silver ore — for higher-grade crafting recipes
  • Gold ore — for endgame crafting
  • Carbon — a special material for certain recipes
  • Crystals and gemstones — alchemy ingredients

Mining is also a great side activity for social players. Mining zones are gathering spots, and materials sell well. An hour of mining can yield solid Yang through material sales.

Alchemy and Metin stones — item improvement

The alchemy system in Metin2 lets you improve and refine equipment. Using various materials, existing items can be given additional bonuses or strengthened further. Metin stones — named after the game's eponymous monsters — are central to this system.

Metin stones

The Metin stones give the game its name. These special stones can be socketed into weapons and armour, granting permanent bonuses to attack, defence, or special attributes. Choosing the right combination of stones for your character and playstyle is one of the more nuanced crafting decisions in Metin2.

Alchemy improvements

Via the Alchemist NPC, players can combine materials into valuable upgrade items. These can enhance existing gear, increase bonuses, or add special properties. Players who know the alchemy recipes can turn cheaper materials into valuable products — and earn good Yang on the player market in the process.

Crafting as a source of income

For players who want to earn Yang without intense grinding, crafting is an interesting alternative. Mining materials, processed goods, and alchemy products are in demand on the player market. A player who understands market prices and crafts efficiently can earn substantial Yang — without setting foot in a single dungeon.

This economic dimension makes Metin2 especially attractive for crafting-oriented players. The game rewards game knowledge across all areas — including the economy and trade system.
