Controllers and MMORPGs — a growing combination
Controller support in MMORPGs was long the exception rather than the rule. Most classic MMOs were designed for mouse and keyboard. That is changing: with the growing importance of console ports and couch gaming, more and more titles now support gamepads natively.
For players who prefer gaming from the sofa or favour gamepads for ergonomic reasons, 2026 offers more options than ever — both in the form of native support and through mature button-mapping software.
Metin2 and controllers: the options
The PC client of Metin2 offers no official controller support. The game was designed for mouse and keyboard, and the standard combat system relies on click commands.
Nevertheless, many Metin2 fans play with a gamepad — using button-mapping tools:
Recommended tools for Metin2 + controller
- reWASD: Powerful remapping tool, supports Xbox, PlayStation and generic controllers. Can map mouse movements to analogue sticks.
- JoyToKey: Free classic for simple button mapping
- Xpadder: Established tool with visual controller configuration
With these tools you can comfortably map movement (analogue stick → WASD), attacks (shoulder buttons → mouse clicks) and skill shortcuts (face buttons → F1–F4). The community has developed ready-made profiles that work well.
Metin2 Mobile with a controller
Controller support is easier on the mobile version: Metin2 Mobile natively supports Bluetooth gamepads on Android. The Xbox Wireless Controller, PlayStation DualSense and many other Bluetooth controllers work straight away. This is the most hassle-free way to play Metin2 with a gamepad.

Which MMORPG is best for controller players?
If native controller support is the top priority, Final Fantasy XIV is the recommendation — the game was built with controllers in mind and features an excellent gamepad UI. It is, however, a subscription game.
For free controller MMORPGs, Lost Ark is a solid choice with native Steam controller support. For those who have grown to love Metin2 and want to use a controller, reWASD offers a fully-fledged solution — or simply pick up the mobile version with a Bluetooth controller.
