What Are Treasure Chests in Metin2?

Treasure chests are one of the core reward systems in Metin2. They work like loot boxes: open a chest and receive a random selection from several possible items — ranging from useful consumables to rare costumes and valuable pieces of equipment. The system has been part of Metin2 for many years and has grown considerably over time.

There are broadly three categories of chests: freely farmable chests dropped by monsters; quest and event chests awarded as rewards for specific activities; and premium chests from the Item Shop containing exclusive contents.

Farmable Treasure Chests

Many Metin Stones and certain monsters drop chests directly into your inventory. These farmable chests are an important part of the game's economy: with enough time invested, you can obtain numerous valuable items without spending a single Dragoncoin.

Event and Quest Chests

During seasonal events such as the Tigerghost Event, the Ruby Event, or at Easter and Christmas, you receive special event chests. These contain thematically matching items that are only available during that period — and can therefore be especially sought-after on the auction market.

Daily quests and login bonuses also award chests on a regular basis. Logging in every day adds up to a sizeable collection of rewards over weeks and months. The login bonus calendar shows you exactly which chest is waiting on which day.

Premium Treasure Chests from the Item Shop

The Item Shop (Nesne Market) regularly offers premium chests purchasable with Dragoncoins. These chests contain exclusive costumes unavailable elsewhere, as well as powerful upgrade materials and rare pet eggs. The exact probabilities for individual items are displayed transparently within the game.

One important point: many items from premium chests are tradeable. That means players who farm enough Yang can buy these items at the auction house without spending Dragoncoins themselves — a route experienced players use consistently.

Opening Chests Strategically

Timing can make a difference. Immediately after an event launches or in the first week of a new chest type, the market prices of the contents are often at their highest, because supply is still low. Patient players open event chests early, while farmable chests are better saved until your inventory is nearly full.

For new players, the recommended approach is: open all freely obtained chests straight away. Save premium chests for events that offer bonus openings or combined rewards.
