Introduction: The Hydra Dungeon
The Hydra Dungeon is an exciting group instance for players from level 100 onwards. The eponymous beast — the Hydra — is a many-headed water and poison monster that presents teams with unique mechanical challenges. Those who succeed here can look forward to valuable equipment drops.
The Hydra is not just powerful, she is unpredictable: her multi-head mechanic makes this fight a genuine coordination test for any group.
Requirements
- Minimum level: 100
- Group content — a minimum of 3–5 players is recommended
- Increase poison resistance (potions and alchemy stones)
- Water resistance is helpful but not mandatory
- Bring enough healing potions for longer fights
The Hydra: Multiple Heads, Multiple Threats
What sets the Hydra apart from other bosses is her multi-head mechanic. The boss has several independent heads that each attack on their own. Every head has its own attack patterns and abilities:
- Water Head: Deals water surges and applies slowing effects
- Poison Head: Spits poison clouds that deal sustained damage over time
- Bite Head: Powerful melee attack focused on the tank
All heads must be defeated in a specific order or simultaneously — otherwise the Hydra partially regenerates. This makes the fight uniquely complex.
Boss Strategy: Bringing Down the Hydra
Focus One Head or Split DPS?
The fundamental strategic question in the Hydra fight: do you send all DPS onto one head at a time, or spread the damage? The recommended approach depends on your group composition:
- Small groups (3–4 players): Focus heads one by one — eliminate the Poison Head first, as poison puts the greatest strain on the healer
- Large groups (5+ players): Attack all heads simultaneously to bypass the regeneration mechanic
Poison Resistance is Critical
The Hydra's Poison Head applies a continuous damage-over-time effect. Without sufficient poison resistance or antidote potions the group can be overwhelmed quickly. Make sure all group members are properly prepared.
The Importance of the Healer
No dungeon in Metin2 makes the healer as vital as the Hydra Dungeon. The combined burden of poison DoT, water damage and the physical attacks from multiple heads demands continuous, robust healing. An experienced Shaman as main healer is practically a requirement.
Group Positioning
Since the Hydra can attack from multiple directions, a semicircular formation works best: tank at the front, healer at a safe distance at the rear, DPS on the flanks. This minimises the area damage from poison clouds.
Recommended Group
| Role | Class | Count |
|---|---|---|
| Tank | Warrior (Mental Force) | 1 |
| Healer | Shaman (Body) | 1–2 |
| DPS | Sura, Warrior (Knight Spirit), Ninja | 2–3 |
Rewards and Drop Chances
The Hydra rewards successful teams with water and poison-themed equipment pieces as well as valuable crafting materials:
- Hydra equipment (water/poison theme, good mid-game stats)
- Valuable crafting materials for higher-tier items
- Upgrade stones and resources
- Yang and rare consumables
The drop chances for the best items are not guaranteed, but with regular runs you quickly build up a solid stock of materials.
