The PvP System in Metin2 — Overview

Metin2 offers several forms of player-versus-player combat (PvP), appealing to different playstyles. From spontaneous encounters on the world map to organised guild wars and the arena — PvP is a central element of the game.

  • Kingdom PvP: Open-world skirmishes between players from different kingdoms on the world map.
  • Guild War: Formally declared PvP conflicts between two guilds.
  • Arena: Structured 1v1 or group PvP in defined areas.
  • Duel: A direct challenge issued to another player for one-on-one combat.

The 3 Kingdoms: Shinsoo, Chunjo, Jinno

The kingdom system is the heart of Metin2 PvP. When creating your character, you choose one of the three kingdoms — a decision that permanently shapes your PvP experience.

KingdomColourCharacteristics
ShinsooRedTraditionally strong in the English-speaking community
ChunjoYellowKnown for its active guild culture
JinnoBlueActive PvP community

Players from different kingdoms can fight one another on the open map. This creates organic, spontaneous PvP encounters during normal farming or travelling.

Kingdom PvP Explained

Kingdom PvP takes place on the open world map. When you enter an area that is being contested or farmed by players from another kingdom, fighting can break out. This is fully integrated into normal gameplay — there is no separate mode or queue system.

Importantly: in standard kingdom PvP you do not lose any items upon defeat. You respawn in the nearest safe zone and can return immediately. This makes PvP risk-free for your equipment.

For guilds, kingdom PvP provides the opportunity to control areas and contest rival guilds' access to good farming spots — a natural resource-conflict system.

Guild War Explained

Guild war is the organised form of PvP in Metin2. One guild can declare war on another — the opposing guild can accept, or is automatically placed in a state of war. During an active guild war, all members of both guilds can attack one another regardless of kingdom affiliation.

How a Guild War Unfolds

  1. The guild master or an officer declares war via the guild menu
  2. The opposing guild is notified of the declaration
  3. The war state begins — all guild members can fight each other
  4. Points are accumulated through kills
  5. The war ends via a time limit, point limit, or mutual agreement

Guild War Rewards

Guilds that win wars earn prestige points and can improve their position in the guild rankings. Additional rewards and titles are also available for successful guilds.

PvP Rankings and Prestige Points

Metin2 maintains a ranking of the most active PvP players and guilds. Prestige points are earned through successful PvP kills and influence your position on the server ranking. Top placements bring recognition and, in some events, special rewards as well.

Best Classes in PvP

Every class has PvP strengths, but certain classes shine in particular scenarios:

  • Armour Sura: Strong defensively with powerful magical attacks — ideal for sustained group PvP.
  • Ninja: High mobility and burst damage — effective in duels and as a flanker.
  • Warrior: Robust and reliable — a solid frontliner in guild wars.
  • Shaman: Support and healing in group PvP — a valuable guild member.
  • Lycan: Strong melee abilities and surprise factor through transformation.

PvP Tips for Newcomers

  • Join a guild: PvP is significantly more enjoyable and more effective as part of a group.
  • Know your kingdom: Be aware of where your kingdom is strong and where you might encounter enemies.
  • Improve your gear: PvP demands better stats than PvE — invest in quality equipment.
  • Leverage your class strengths: Learn your class's special abilities for combat situations.
  • No item loss: Don't be afraid of PvP — you won't lose any items in standard PvP.
