Metin2 Guild War: Guilds, Wars, Skills and Properties Explained
Guild War is the direct combat between guilds in Metin2. The mode is closely linked to the entire guild system, as participation, rights, guild skills and dragon spirit play an important role. This guide explains Guild War as an introduction and then shows the most important guild functions from founding and levelling to properties, buildings and leader changes.
Summary: What is a Guild?
A guild is an association of multiple players. Guilds can have their own members, ranks, rights, levels, skills, logos, properties and other guild content. Your own guild can be founded from level 40 at the Village Square Guard and costs 200,000 Yang.
A Guild War is a battle between two guilds. The guild leader can challenge Guild Wars and accept challenges. Members need appropriate rights to fight in Guild Wars or use guild skills. The rights "Fighter" and "Skills" are particularly important. Guild skills can only be used in Guild Wars and require dragon spirit.
What is a Guild War in Metin2?
A Guild War, often called GW for short, is a battle between two guilds. The guild leader can challenge Guild Wars and accept challenges. Before a Guild War, various things can be set such as type, rounds, point target and battle duration.
If a guild wins the Guild War, it receives ranking points. In a draw, both guilds receive ranking points. The losing guild loses ranking points.
Guild Wars are not just a combat mode, but part of the guild system. Participation does not automatically depend only on membership. Members need appropriate rights to fight in Guild Wars or use guild skills.
Requirements and Participation
Rights management is important for Guild Wars. The guild leader can name ranks and assign specific rights to those ranks.
| Right | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Fighter | Allows participation in Guild Wars and entry to guild dungeons. |
| Skills | Allows the use of guild skills during a Guild War. |
The leader always has all rights. New members initially receive the lowest rank with the rights assigned to that rank.
Types of Guild Wars
In Metin2, there are several types of Guild Wars. They differ by map, objective, scoring and course of action.
| Guild War Type | Basic Principle |
|---|---|
| Field Guild War | Battle on a normal map. Enemies can be attacked outside of safe zones. |
| Arena Guild War | Battle on a special arena map. The guild that kills 100 enemies first wins. |
| Flag Guild War | The enemy flag must be brought to your own base. |
| Shield Battle Guild War | One guild attacks a target object, the other defends it. After that, the roles are swapped. |
| Annihilation War | Points are collected by destroying objects in the area. |
| Time Attack Guild War | Both guilds must destroy target objects. The faster guild wins. |
In Field Guild War, the guild that scores the most points within 30 minutes wins. For a kill, you receive as many points as the level of the defeated enemy. During a Field Guild War, members receive no hunting bonus and no EXP or drops from monsters.
Guild Skills
Guild skills can only be used in Guild Wars. They affect the player who activates them. For a member to use guild skills, they need the appropriate right in the guild.
One point can be invested in a guild skill per guild level. Dragon spirit is required for use.
Dragon Spirit
Dragon spirit is the resource for guild skills. If there is not enough dragon spirit, guild skills cannot be used. Empty dragon spirit can be refilled with Yang.
The available amount of dragon spirit increases with each guild level. This means that guild levels, guild skills and Guild War are directly linked.
Founding a Guild
Your own guild can be created from level 40 at the Village Square Guard. Founding costs 200,000 Yang.
To found the guild, the character must not have been a member or leader of a guild in the last three days. The desired guild name must not already be taken and can contain a maximum of 12 characters.
Guild Ranks and Rights
The guild leader can name up to 14 ranks individually and assign specific rights to each rank. This rank management controls which members can use certain guild functions.
These include, among others:
| Function | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Invite Members | Accept new players into the guild. |
| Dismiss Members | Remove players from the guild. |
| Write Announcements | Publish information within the guild. |
| Use Guild Skills | Activate skills during a Guild War. |
| Participate in Guild War | Participate in Guild Wars as a fighter. |
| Enter Guild Dungeons | Gain access to guild dungeons. |
| Use Guild Bank | Gain access to the guild bank. |
For Guild War, the rights "Fighter" and "Skills" are particularly important.
Guild Level and EXP Donations
A guild can be levelled like a character. To do this, members donate experience points to the guild.
With each level-up, the guild receives:
| Progress | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Skill Point | Can be invested in guild skills. |
| More Member Slots | The guild can accept more players. |
| More Dragon Spirit | The resource for guild skills increases. |
From guild level 20, the levelling system changes. The guild is then no longer developed only through EXP donations as before, but through Yang or donation certificates.
Guild Logo
From guild level 3, the leader can upload a guild logo. The logo is displayed next to the guild name.
Your own guild logo must be 16x12 pixels and be in .jpg, .gif or .bmp format. Transparent areas are possible.
Guild Property
A guild property is its own area for the guild. Guild properties can be purchased on Map1, on the maps of the guild lands and in the Dongane Plain.
The guild must be at least level 20 and have existed for at least 24 hours. Acquisition takes place through an auction. Before the auction begins, the guild leader must register with the property manager. Only the guild leader can participate in the auction.
After successful acquisition, a daily tax is charged. If the tax is not paid for 9 days, the guild land is dissolved.
Buildings on Guild Property
Various buildings and facilities can be built on a guild property.
| Building / Facility | Function |
|---|---|
| Guild House | Must be built before other buildings. |
| Blacksmith | Enables improvements to certain equipment categories. |
| Alchemist | Processes ore at the guild furnace. |
| Altar of Power | Increases the maximum number of members. |
| Guild Warehouse | Serves as the guild's storage. |
Guild blacksmiths are divided into different types. The jeweller improves jewellery and similar equipment, the armour smith improves armour, shields and helmets, and the weapon smith improves weapons.
Guild Dungeons
Guild dungeons are separate content for guilds. Entrance is tied to guild functions, including the "Fighter" right.
They are not the same as Guild Wars, but are also part of the guild system. Guild dungeons include Meleys' Hoard and Balathor's Crypt.
Leader Change and Ring of Succession
The guild leader can use the Ring of Succession to make another guild member the new leader. The transfer is only possible to characters at level 40 or above.
Additionally, the guild leader can change automatically if they have been offline for an extended period. In this case, an active player of the guild becomes the new leader.
