Metin2 Damage Calculator
Damage in Metin2 depends on several factors: status points, weapons, skills, bonuses, critical hits, penetrating hits, as well as HP and MP absorption. A damage calculator must consider these values separately, because not every combat-relevant effect directly increases the attack value.
Summary: Damage in Metin2 does not depend solely on the attack value. Status points, weapon values, skills, equipment bonuses, critical hits and penetrating hits are also important.
HP absorption and MP absorption do not directly increase the attack value. They help to regain hit points or mana points during combat.
Particularly important are:
- Status points appropriate to class and playstyle
- Weapons and upgrades
- Equipment bonuses
- Chance of critical hit
- Chance of penetrating hit
- HP absorption and MP absorption
- Skills and buffs
A simple formula is not sufficient for damage in Metin2. Many values have different effects depending on whether normal attacks, skills, PvM or PvP are considered.
What affects damage in Metin2?
A character's damage depends on several systems. Some values increase direct damage. Others change hit effects, improve defensive properties or support resources in combat.
Important factors are:
- Status points such as VIT, INT, STR and DEX
- Weapons and their upgrades
- Skills and their level
- Equipment bonuses
- 6th and 7th bonuses
- Chance of critical hit
- Chance of penetrating hit
- Defensive values and resistances
- HP absorption and MP absorption
- Temporary effects from skills or items
Status points can be distributed to VIT, INT, STR and DEX. A character receives status points per level. Additionally, he receives skill points, which can be distributed to skills. Skills become stronger with higher skill levels and can have different effects depending on the class.
Status Points and Classes
Status points are a foundation for character development. Which values are particularly important depends on class, doctrine and playstyle.
| Class / Doctrine | Orientation |
|---|---|
| Warrior | VIT and STR are closely related for Warriors. The exact weighting depends on playstyle. |
| Ninja, Ranged | VIT and DEX are in the foreground. INT and STR remain at standard value in the mentioned build. |
| Ninja, Melee | VIT and DEX are in the foreground. INT and STR remain at standard value in the mentioned build. |
| Weapon Sura | VIT and INT are in the foreground. STR and DEX remain at standard value in the mentioned build initially. |
| Magic Sura | VIT and INT are in the foreground. STR and DEX remain at standard value in the mentioned build. |
| Shaman | VIT and INT are central values. DEX can follow after maximising these values. |
| Lycan | The Lycan is a melee class with the Instinct doctrine. He uses claws and combines attack skills, buffs and passive upgrades. For the Lycan, class, skills and equipment are the main focus here. |
Warriors use different skills depending on their doctrine. Body Warriors have Sword Aura, a skill that increases attack value. Mind Warriors have Strong Body, a skill that improves defence.
Suras also differ by doctrine. Weapon Suras use Enchanted Blade among other things to increase attack value. Magic Suras attack more strongly with magical ranged and area attacks.
Ninjas can be played as ranged Ninjas with a bow or as melee Ninjas with daggers. In both variants, VIT and DEX are in the foreground.
Shamans work with spells, support and buffs. For them, VIT and INT are central values. DEX can follow these values.
Lycans have only the Instinct doctrine. They fight in melee with claws and use direct attack skills such as Shred, Wolf Jump, Wolf Breath, Wolf Claw and Claw Storm. Crimson Wolf Soul strengthens the Lycan himself, whilst Indigo Wolf Soul supports the group. For damage building, claws, skills, sockets, spirit stones, bonuses and the upgrade status of the equipment count.
Weapons and Upgrades
Weapons are an important part of damage building. A stronger or upgraded weapon can improve the damage dealt.
Several factors play a role in upgrading:
- Type of item
- Current upgrade level
- Required materials
- Possible costs
- Success rate
- Actual values of the item
The effect of an upgrade depends on the specific item and its actual values.
Equipment Bonuses
Bonuses are a separate improvement tier of equipment. They can affect damage, hit effects, defence, resources or other combat properties.
Not every bonus directly increases attack value. Some bonuses instead improve survival, stability or resources in combat.
Bonuses can affect among other things these areas:
- Attack value or magical attack value
- Chance of critical hit
- Chance of penetrating hit
- Resistances
- Maximum HP or MP
- HP regeneration or MP regeneration
- HP absorption or MP absorption
- Attack speed or movement speed
- Status values such as STR, INT, DEX or VIT
An item can possess additional bonuses. The 6th and 7th bonus function as a separate improvement tier and should be considered separately from normal bonuses.
Critical Hits
A critical hit is a special type of hit. If a hit lands critically, the normally dealt damage is doubled.
Example: A normal hit deals 500 damage. As a critical hit, it deals 1000 damage.
The chance of critical hits is therefore an important value for damage increase. In PvM it can help defeat monsters faster. In PvP, its usefulness depends more on opponent, defence and combat situation.
The higher the chance of critical hits, the more often normal attacks can land critically.
Penetrating Hits
A penetrating hit increases damage by adding the opponent's defence value to the damage.
Example: A hit normally deals 80 to 100 damage. If the opponent has 500 defence, a penetrating hit deals 580 to 600 damage.
Penetrating hits are particularly relevant when normal damage is low relative to the opponent's defence. With very high normal damage, a critical hit can be more powerful. Against opponents with high defence, a penetrating hit can be especially valuable.
Special restrictions apply to penetrating hits for skills. Therefore, normal attacks and skill damage should be considered separately.
HP Absorption and MP Absorption
HP absorption and MP absorption are combat-relevant bonuses, but not a direct increase in attack value.
With HP absorption, a portion of the damage dealt is added to your own hit points. This effect primarily improves durability in combat.
With MP absorption, a portion of the damage dealt is added to your own mana points. This effect supports resource management in combat.
The limitation to melee damage is important. These bonuses should not be understood as general healing or resource recovery for any type of damage.
Skills and Buffs
Skills affect damage and combat behaviour differently depending on class. Some skills cause direct damage. Others increase attack value, defence, speed or support group members.
Examples:
- Sword Aura increases attack value for Body Warrior.
- Strong Body improves defence for Mind Warrior.
- Enchanted Blade increases attack value for Weapon Sura.
- Blessing reduces physical attack damage for Dragon Shaman.
- Crimson Wolf Soul increases attack power for Lycan.
- Indigo Wolf Soul supports group members with attack speed and evasion.
The higher the skill level, the stronger the effect of a skill.
What a Damage Calculator Should Consider
A meaningful damage calculator for Metin2 should not only ask for a single attack value. The most important values must be considered separately because they have different effects in the game.
Important categories are:
- Class and doctrine
- Status points
- Weapon and specific weapon values
- Skills and buffs
- Equipment bonuses
- Sixth and Seventh bonus
- Critical hits
- Penetrating hits
- Defensive values of the opponent
- HP and MP absorption
Critical hits, penetrating hits and absorption fulfil different roles. Critical hits double normal damage. Penetrating hits add the opponent's defence value to the damage. HP and MP absorption improve survival and resources, but do not directly increase attack value.
Frequently Asked Questions about Damage in Metin2
Is there a simple damage formula for Metin2?
A simple formula is not sufficient for an accurate assessment. Damage is affected by status points, weapon values, skills, bonuses, critical hits, penetrating hits and opponent defence.
What does a critical hit do?
A critical hit doubles the normally dealt damage. Therefore, the chance of critical hits is an important value for damage increase.
What does a penetrating hit do?
A penetrating hit increases damage by adding the opponent's defence value to the damage. This can be particularly important against opponents with high defence.
Does HP absorption increase damage?
HP absorption does not directly increase attack value. It adds a portion of the melee damage dealt to your own HP and thereby improves durability in combat.
Does MP absorption increase damage?
MP absorption does not directly increase attack value. It adds a portion of the melee damage dealt to your own MP and thereby supports resource management.
Which status values are important?
This depends on class, doctrine and playstyle. Warriors work strongly with VIT and STR, Ninjas with VIT and DEX, Suras with VIT and INT, Shamans with VIT and INT and later DEX. For the Lycan, class, skills and equipment are the main focus here.
What is important for Lycan damage?
The Lycan is a melee class with the Instinct doctrine and uses claws as class-specific weapons. For damage building, skills, claws, sockets, spirit stones, bonuses and upgrade status are particularly important.
