What is the Aura System?
The Aura System in Metin2 is more than pure aesthetics — though the visual side is genuinely impressive. An aura envelops your character in a glowing energy field that displays different colours and effects depending on its type and level. At the same time, every aura delivers measurable in-game stats that make your character stronger.
The system is a fine example of Metin2's design philosophy: mechanics that simultaneously offer cosmetics and gameplay depth. For newcomers, auras are a nice extra; for experienced players, they are a serious part of the character-building system.
Aura types and their effects
Elemental Auras
Elemental auras are named after the classic elements of the game and provide type-specific bonuses:
- Fire Aura: Increased physical and magical attack, red glow effect
- Ice Aura: Resistance to slowing effects, cold defence, blue glow effect
- Lightning Aura: Attack speed and movement speed, yellow effect
- Wind Aura: Evasion bonus, movement speed, whitish effect
- Earth Aura: Physical defence and HP, brown/golden effect
Premium Auras
Premium auras are rarer but more powerful. They combine multiple bonus types and have particularly spectacular visual effects:
- Dragon Aura: Combination of attack, defence and resistances — orange/golden effect
- Moonlight Aura: Strong magical bonuses, silvery-white shimmer
- Demon Aura: High attack values with a dark purple effect
- Holy Aura: Strong healing bonuses and resistances, radiant white effect
Event Auras
Seasonal events bring limited event auras that are only available for a restricted time. They often offer unique effects and solid bonuses, but are not permanently available. Players who actively participate in seasonal events have good chances of obtaining these special auras.
Aura levels — from beginner to glowing endgame fighter
Auras can be upgraded using aura essences or upgrade materials. Higher levels mean stronger visual effects and better bonuses:
| Level | Name | Bonus Strength | Special Feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Weak Aura | Low | Starter aura, faint shimmer |
| Level 2 | Normal Aura | Moderate | Visible glow effect |
| Level 3 | Strong Aura | Good | Clear pulse effect |
| Level 4 | Mighty Aura | Strong | Animated radiance effect |
| Level 5 | Legendary Aura | Maximum | Full visual effect, all bonuses active |
How do you obtain an aura?
Auras are not found through normal looting — they come from special sources:
- Seasonal events: The most common free-to-play source for auras
- Boss drops: Certain elite bosses can drop aura fragments
- Dungeon rewards: As a rare bonus from high-level dungeons
- Player market: Auras obtained from other players can be traded
- Crafting: Complete auras can be assembled from aura fragments through crafting
- Quest rewards: Some aura quests grant an aura upon first completion
Aura tips for different player types
For beginners
Don't stress about auras in the early stages. Focus on your core equipment and skill development. If you receive an aura through events or quests — great. If not, your character is fully playable without one.
For intermediate players
A level 3–4 aura with bonuses suited to your build is a genuine power spike. Track events actively to gather aura materials, and build your aura level over time. A Fire Aura for an attack build or an Earth Aura for a tank build makes a measurable difference.
For endgame players
Legendary auras at level 5 are the standard among top players. Premium auras such as the Dragon Aura or Moonlight Aura offer the strongest combination bonuses. Farming and upgrading these auras is a standalone long-term content pursuit in its own right.
