Cross-platform gaming in the MMORPG genre
Cross-platform means a game runs on multiple device types. This can refer to cross-play (players on different platforms playing together) or simply cross-availability (the same game on different devices, but with separate servers).
In the MMORPG segment, true cross-play between PC and mobile is rare, as the gameplay experiences differ significantly. More common is an MMORPG offering a PC version and a separate mobile app — both fully-featured, but not connected to each other. Metin2 is a good example of this.
Metin2 — PC and mobile as two fully-featured experiences
Metin2 exists in two forms: the classic Windows PC client and the Metin2 Mobile app (iOS and Android). Both are free, both deliver the Metin2 experience — but with a different focus.
Metin2 PC client
- Full content scope including all dungeons, classes and endgame
- Over 20 years of active development
- Keyboard and mouse controls, optimised for desktop
- Separate servers from the mobile version
Metin2 Mobile
- Interface optimised for touchscreen
- Play on the go on iOS and Android
- Its own progression system and dedicated servers
- A great entry point for mobile players wanting to discover Metin2
Some players use both versions: PC for intensive endgame, mobile whilst out and about. It's not true cross-play, but it offers practical flexibility.

Which option suits which type of player?
If you're looking for genuine cross-play between smartphone and PC, Albion Online is your best bet. The game was built as a cross-platform title from day one and works equally well on all devices.
If you're after the classic Metin2 experience and want the flexibility to switch between PC and mobile, you simply use both versions independently of each other. Many long-standing Metin2 fans maintain characters on both platforms at the same time.
For purely mobile MMORPG play, Metin2 Mobile offers its own fully-featured experience that brings the original feel of the game to the touchscreen — with typical mobile adaptations for the smaller interface.
