Why the Class System Matters
In an action RPG, your choice of class is more than a cosmetic decision — it defines how you fight, what equipment you can wear, and what role you fill in group content. A well-designed class system gives every player a sense of being unique without locking out any particular playstyle.
Metin2 has applied this principle consistently since its European launch in 2007. The game's five classes differ not merely in animations but in fundamental gameplay mechanics. A bow-wielding Ninja plays entirely differently from a physical Warrior — and both have their place at end-game level.
Metin2's 5 Classes in Detail
Warrior (Savaşçı)
The Warrior is Metin2's all-rounder in melee combat. Clad in heavy armour with sword and shield, this class has the highest base defence of any in the game. Two builds are available: the Mental Warrior focuses on buffs and group support, while the Body Warrior maximises direct damage output. Both variants are strong both solo and in a team.
Ninja
The Ninja is the most flexible class: in the Dagger build, the Ninja strikes at lightning speed in melee with high burst damage; in the Bow build, the Ninja keeps their distance and picks off enemies from a safe range. Ninjas are widely regarded as one of the strongest PvP classes, though they demand good timing and precise positioning.
Sura
The Sura blends swordsmanship with dark magic. The Weapon Sura uses magically enhanced sword strikes for high damage output, while the Armour Sura leans into defence and crowd control. Sura players often have one of the best self-sustain rates in the game.
Shaman (Şaman)
The Shaman is Metin2's support class — but those who build for damage will find the Dragon Shaman is a formidable damage dealer in its own right. The Healing Shaman buffs and heals allies and is indispensable in dungeon groups. No other class is as flexibly useful in a team setting.
Lycan
The Lycan is the newest class in Metin2 and plays like a berserker. As a shapeshifter, the Lycan relies on claw attacks with high attack speed. Two builds allow for either maximum damage or greater mobility. The Lycan excels at solo farming and in open-world PvP situations.

Class Choice and Long-Term Strategy
Your class influences not only combat but also your choice of equipment. Each class uses class-specific armour sets and weapons, which in turn affects the equipment market and farming priorities. Players focused on long-term motivation should also check which class is most in demand on their chosen server — this affects group invitations and trading opportunities.
The golden rule: play the class that feels best to you. Metin2 does not reward a theoretically optimal choice, but rather playtime and a thorough understanding of your own class.
