Metin2 Fishing: System and Tips
Fishing in Metin2 is unlocked from level 30 onwards and allows you to catch various fish in the lakes, seas and rivers of the realm. Each region is home to different fish species, so it's worth exploring.
To fish, you need a fishing rod (available from the Fisherman for 5,000 Yang), suitable bait and basic knowledge of the fishing minigame. As your fishing rod level increases, better fish become available.
How to Fish
Preparation
- Buy a fishing rod from the Fisherman for 5,000 Yang (usable from level 30 onwards)
- Get bait: worms or paste
Process
- Equip the fishing rod via right-click
- Right-click on a bait
- Press the spacebar to cast the line
- The fishing minigame opens
The Catch Minigame
Within 15 seconds, you must hit a small fish inside a circle three times with your mouse to get a chance to catch it.
The Fishing Rod
Fishing rods accumulate mastery points on successful catches. Once a rod has reached its maximum points, it can be upgraded by the Fisherman. With a higher level, better fish become available.
Upgrade Mechanics
- Maximum level: 20
- Failed upgrades reduce points by 10% – the level does not decrease
- The error chance increases with the fishing rod level
Carbon Fishing Rod
A high-quality alternative that increases your chance of success when fishing and is equivalent to a fishing rod+20. You can obtain the materials from the fortress. The Fisherman will assemble it for you when you drag the material to him. The rod lasts for 30 days from receipt.
Bait
Without bait, there are no successful catches. There are several types of bait that attract different fish. For details on available bait, see the Fisherman.
Fish and Loot
When fishing, you can pull various items out of the water – not just fish, but also hair colours, bones, shells and even rubbish.
Handling Caught Fish
Live fish (except the Small Fish) must be killed in order to stack them and use them. Right-clicking on the fish in your inventory starts this process. Possible outcomes:
- The fish dies (dead fish remains in your inventory)
- The fish disappears into the depths of the water
- You receive bones
- You receive a shell
- You receive bait
Preparation
Dead and live fish can be grilled. For this you need a grill (available from the Fisherman for 20,000 Yang).
Special Catches
The Golden Tuna is an extremely rare catch. Additionally, hair colours can also be pulled in while fishing.
