What are Lifeforms in OGame?
With the Lifeforms update, OGame has gained a completely new strategic layer. On each planet, you can settle and develop one of four alien lifeforms. These lifeforms grow independently of your normal planetary buildings and reward you with permanent bonuses to production, research, combat or expeditions.
The system complements existing OGame gameplay without replacing it. You build lifeform buildings, collect artifacts through expeditions and invest these in lifeform technologies. Which lifeform you choose should match your playstyle and player class — the right synergies make all the difference.
The Four Lifeforms at a Glance
| Lifeform | Strength | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| Humans | Balanced, Resources & Building | Beginners, All-rounders |
| Rock'tal | Combat, Defence | Fleeters, Raiders |
| Mecha | Production Efficiency, Energy | Miners, Empire Builders |
| Kaelesh | Research, Expeditions | Discoverers, Researchers |
Humans
The Human lifeform is the most accessible of the four options. Their bonuses are balanced across resource production, building speed and moderate combat improvements. For players who don't yet have a clear specialisation or want to strengthen as many areas as possible simultaneously, the Human lifeform is a solid starting point.
Strengths of the Human Lifeform
- Bonus to metal and crystal production
- Improved building speed for buildings and ships
- Slight acceleration of research times
- Moderate improvement to ship hull points
Rock'tal
The Rock'tal are massive, rock-like beings whose strength lies in combat. Their technologies directly improve combat ships, defence systems and debris field efficiency. For fleeters and raiders who attack daily and collect debris fields, Rock'tal is the strongest choice — especially in combination with the General player class.
Strengths of the Rock'tal Lifeform
- Increased attack strength of all combat ships
- Improved shields for defence installations
- Bonus to hull and structure points of ships
- Improved recycler capacity when collecting debris fields
Mecha
The Mecha lifeform is highly specialised in production efficiency. Their mechanical character is reflected in strong bonuses to resource generation, energy efficiency and storage capacity. For dedicated miners who want to develop their planets into optimal production machines, Mecha is the first choice — ideal in combination with the Collector player class.
Strengths of the Mecha Lifeform
- Strong bonuses to metal, crystal and deuterium production
- Improved energy efficiency of all power plants
- Increased storage capacity for resources
- Bonus to crawler efficiency (especially valuable for Collector class)
Kaelesh
The Kaelesh are an energy-based lifeform focused on knowledge and exploration. Their technologies significantly accelerate research, improve expedition results and create synergies that perfectly match the Discoverer player class. Those who regularly send expeditions and want to quickly research new technologies will find their strongest ally in Kaelesh.
Strengths of the Kaelesh Lifeform
- Significant acceleration of research times
- Improved expedition results: more resources, ships and dark matter
- Bonus to phalanx range
- Increased chance of rare finds on expeditions
Lifeform Buildings and Population
Each lifeform brings its own series of buildings that you construct on the respective planet. These buildings increase the lifeform population — the higher the population, the more and stronger technologies you can unlock in lifeform research. Building lifeform structures runs parallel to your regular planetary buildings.
Developing the lifeform requires artifacts that you collect through expeditions. Small, medium and large artifacts are needed for different technology levels. Those who regularly conduct expeditions have a clear advantage over purely stationary players.
