In Metin2, you receive skill points starting at Level 5, which you distribute among your character's special abilities. At Level 5, you get 4 points immediately, then 1 point per level thereafter. At the same time, you choose your class path – this determines which of your two skill trees you'll focus on. This decision defines your entire playstyle.
What are Skills in Metin2?
Skills are the special abilities of your character. Once you've allocated at least one skill point to an ability, you can use it actively. There are several ways to do this:
- Drag the skill to the quickslot bar at the bottom of the screen
- Activate it using keys 1–4 or F1–F4
- Right-click directly on the skill
- Assign certain skills to your left or right mouse button
Each skill costs mana points when used. Costs vary depending on the skill and its current level. After use, the skill recharges – cooldown times also differ from skill to skill. Basic rule: the higher the skill level, the stronger the effect and the more mana it costs.
Skill Points: How the System Works
The skill points system is straightforward but has a few important mechanics you should know:
- The quest "Training" at Level 5 gives you the first 4 points and locks in your class path
- From Level 5 onwards, you receive exactly 1 point per level
- Points are managed in the Skills window
- Each class has two paths with six skills each
- Once counter skills are mastered, a boost skill can be selected
In the Skills window, you'll see your class abilities alongside horse skills, the combo option to extend your attack chain by up to two hits, and language skills for communication with other kingdoms.
Class Skills: Body Warrior and Mind Warrior
Each of the five classes has two paths. Here's an overview of the Warrior's two skill trees:
| Path | Skill | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Body Warrior | Sword Aura | Attack power increases based on level and STR allocation |
| Body Warrior | Combat Rush | Increases movement and attack speed; defence decreases at Grandmaster level |
| Body Warrior | Triple Slash | Three rapid weapon strikes in succession |
| Body Warrior | Sword Whirlwind | Whirls weapon creating strong area damage |
| Body Warrior | Rush | Stun attack; movement speed massively increased briefly; deals damage |
| Body Warrior | Will to Live | Frontal attack |
| Body Warrior | Earthquake | Frontal attack |
| Mind Warrior | Strong Body | Defence increases, movement speed decreases; no knockdown from Grandmaster level |
| Mind Warrior | Sword Strike | Stun with area damage |
| Mind Warrior | Stomp | Stun chance with area damage |
| Mind Warrior | Breakthrough | Area damage |
| Mind Warrior | Heavy Strike | Area damage |
Skill Books: Level Skills Faster
Skills aren't only improved through skill points – skill books are a second crucial method. Important points:
- You can read all skill books in parallel on a 24-hour cycle
- Depending on elapsed time, different messages appear indicating why reading isn't possible yet
- To skip the 24-hour cooldown, you can use an Exorcism Scroll
- Certain items can further enhance skill effectiveness
In practice: read your books daily once the cooldown expires. If you're consistent, you can progress without spending real money.
Reset Skills: Costs and Process
Misallocated your points or want to switch paths? You can reset all skill points with the Old Woman in-game up to and including Level 30 for a Yang fee.
What you need to know:
- You get all allocated points back
- However, you lose points earned from reaching Mastery levels (M2–M10) and Grandmaster level
- Misallocated means: putting more than 17 skill points into a single skill
- If a skill doesn't jump up at 17 points, visit the Old Woman again – she can retry immediately to avoid losing a point
- The jump at 17 points is not guaranteed
| Level | Cost in Yang |
|---|---|
| 5 | 20,000 Yang |
| 6 | 22,000 Yang |
| 7 | 24,000 Yang |
| 10 | 30,000 Yang |
| 20 | 50,000 Yang |
| 30 | 70,000 Yang |
The formula is simple: 20,000 Yang + (Level − 5) × 2,000 Yang. The earlier you reset, the cheaper it is.
Practical Tips for Skill Allocation
You can derive directly applicable recommendations from this information:
- Choose your path early. The quest "Training" at Level 5 locks it in. Research beforehand which playstyle suits you – offensive (Body Warrior) or defensive/tanky (Mind Warrior).
- Assign frequently used skills to 1–4 or F1–F4. This saves valuable seconds in combat.
- Allocate a maximum of 17 points per skill to avoid misallocation. The jump to Mastery level only happens from 17 points onwards.
- Read skill books daily. The 24-hour cooldown runs automatically – use it consistently.
- Only reset when necessary. Until Level 30 it's relatively cheap, but you lose Mastery-level points. Plan your build early.
Frequently Asked Questions about Metin2 Skills
From what level can I learn skills?
From Level 5 onwards. With the quest "Training" you'll receive your first 4 skill points and simultaneously choose your class path. From Level 6, you gain 1 additional point per level.
What happens if I misallocate my skills?
Misallocation means putting more than 17 points into a single skill. In that case, visit the Old Woman and reset your skills for Yang – this is possible up to Level 30.
How much does a skill reset cost?
At Level 5, the reset costs 20,000 Yang. For each additional level, 2,000 Yang is added. At Level 30, you'd pay 70,000 Yang.
Do I lose points when resetting skills?
Yes, partially. You get all regularly allocated points back, but lose bonus points earned from reaching Mastery levels M2 through M10 and Grandmaster level.
How do skill books work?
Skill books can be read in parallel on a 24-hour cycle. If you want to bypass the cooldown, use an Exorcism Scroll. Reading books daily significantly accelerates skill levelling.
Can I change my class path?
Yes, but only after a reset with the Old Woman up to Level 30. After that, you can choose a different path during reallocation. Note that Mastery-level points will be lost.
What's the difference between Body Warrior and Mind Warrior?
Body Warrior is offensively focused with skills like Sword Whirlwind (area damage) and Rush (stun + high movement speed). Mind Warrior is more defensive: Strong Body increases defence and prevents knockdown from Grandmaster level onwards.
How many skills does each class have?
Each of the five classes has two paths with six skills each. Additionally, there are counter and boost skills, horse skills, and the combo option.
