Dragon Stone Alchemy is the central character enhancement system in Metin2. It was introduced with version 13.3 on 26 February 2013 and has been expanded multiple times since. Dragon Stones occupy their own inventory and grant your character a variety of bonuses – depending on stone colour, class, purity and level. If you want to optimise your character long-term, you can't avoid this system.
History and Version Overview
The alchemy system has evolved significantly over the years. Three milestones are particularly relevant:
- Version 13.3 (26.02.2013): Introduction of Dragon Stone Alchemy as the base system.
- Version 19.0 (22.01.2019): Addition of Mythical Alchemy – the highest class was thereby introduced.
- Version 23.2 (26.07.2023): Expansion to include Dragon Amethyst as the seventh stone type.
The system has been actively maintained and developed over more than ten years. New players will find a mature system with many parameters to adjust.
Core Principle: What is Dragon Stone Alchemy?
Dragon Stones are special items displayed exclusively in the Dragon Stone inventory – not in your regular inventory. Open the Dragon Stone inventory either via the button in your regular inventory, the chat bar or a keyboard shortcut.
Each Dragon Stone grants your character bonuses. Which bonuses and how strong they are depends on three factors:
- Class: Determines the number of possible bonuses on the stone.
- Purity: Determines the strength of the existing bonuses.
- Level: Also increases the effectiveness of the bonuses.
All three factors can be improved independently, giving the system considerable depth.
The Six Classes Overview
Dragon Stones can exist in six different classes. As the class increases, so does the number of bonuses a stone can carry:
| Class | Description |
|---|---|
| Raw | Entry-level class, fewest bonuses |
| Cut | First improvement step compared to Raw |
| Rare | Middle class, more bonus options |
| Antique | High class, significantly more bonuses possible |
| Legendary | Elite class, many combinable bonuses |
| Mythical | Highest class, introduced with version 19.0 |
The Seven Stone Types
There are seven different types of Dragon Stones, identifiable by their colour. Each type has its own area of effect and grants different types of bonuses. The six classic types are:
| Stone Type | Colour / Type |
|---|---|
| Onyx | Black |
| Diamond | White / Clear |
| Ruby | Red |
| Jade | Green |
| Sapphire | Blue |
| Garnet | Dark red |
| Amethyst | Purple – added with version 23.2 |
Which stone type makes the most sense for your character and playstyle depends on your class and build. Since each type offers different bonuses, it's worth taking a targeted look at the respective effects in-game.
Purity and Level: The Two Further Enhancement Tiers
In addition to class, there are two other ways to improve a Dragon Stone:
Purity
The purity level of a Dragon Stone directly affects the strength of its existing bonuses. A higher purity level means concretely higher values – for example, more attack power or more defence, depending on the stone type. The visual appearance of the stone changes horizontally as purity increases.
Level
The level of a Dragon Stone also increases the effect of its bonuses. Level and purity work independently of each other – a stone can have a high level but low purity or vice versa. The vertical appearance of the stone changes with its class.
For optimal character enhancement, you should keep all three tiers – class, purity and level – in mind and develop them evenly.
How Do You Get Dragon Stones?
There are various ways to obtain Dragon Stones. The most important for newcomers is the daily quest.
Daily Quest
The daily Dragon Stone quest is available from Level 30 onwards. It's the most accessible way to regularly obtain Dragon Stones without relying on the marketplace or special events. If you log in daily and complete the quest, you'll build up your supply continuously.
Dragon Stone Shards
Dragon Stone Shards are materials assigned to Dragon Stone Alchemy. They play a role in refining and crafting Dragon Stones. There are different quality levels of Dragon Stone Shards, identifiable by their name.
Other Sources
In addition to the daily quest, there are other ways to farm Dragon Stones – such as through events, the marketplace or certain game content. You can find out which sources are currently available in-game via the Dragon Stone menu and current gameplay tips.
Tips for Effective Getting Started
- Never miss the daily quest: From level 30, the daily Dragon Stone quest is the most consistent way to gather materials. Even short logins are worthwhile for this.
- Choose stone type consciously: Look at the bonuses of the different stone types and deliberately choose the ones that suit your build. Don't just use the first available stone.
- Prioritise class before purity: A higher class allows more bonuses on a stone. It's usually sensible to improve the class first before investing heavily in purity.
- Keep the Dragon Stone inventory in sight: Since Dragon Stones use their own inventory, remember to regularly check whether new stones can be equipped or improved.
- Mythical Alchemy as a long-term goal: The Mythical class introduced with version 19.0 is the endgame of the system. Plan accordingly – the path there is long, but each intermediate stage already brings noticeable bonuses.
