When space arcade isn't enough anymore
Space Invaders defined the space gaming genre: shooting aliens, surviving waves, chasing high scores. But once you've discovered the fascination of space, you often want more: real strategy, persistent worlds, other players as opponents — and decisions that still have consequences hours or days later.
OGame is exactly this "more". Since 2002 it has offered the deepest space strategy game in your browser. No high score lists, no wave mechanics — instead a living galaxy with thousands of real players, alliances, wars and economy.

OGame's space strategy in detail
Planet building as foundation
OGame starts with a home planet. On it you build metal mines, crystal mines and deuterium synthesisers to produce resources. With resources you advance research: energy technology, propulsion systems, weapons technology, astrophysics. Astrophysics enables new colonies — up to 9 planets plus moons can be settled.
The fleet — OGame's heart
Ships are built in the shipyard. Light fighters as mass production, heavy fighters for stronger engagements, cruisers, battleships, battlecruisers, bombers, destroyers — and as the crowning glory the Death Star, the most powerful ship in the game that can even destroy moons. Each ship has strengths and weaknesses in the rapidfire system: cruisers shoot multiple times at light fighters, bombers demolish defence installations.
Fleetsave — the strategic core mechanic
What makes OGame unique is fleetsave: before going offline, you send your own fleet on a mission whose arrival time matches your own waking time. The fleet is untouchable during travel. This simple mechanic creates complex strategic thinking: when am I online? How long does the mission last? Which resources do I take with me?
Expeditions into the unknown
The discoverer class can send fleets to unexplored areas. What comes back? Resources, foreign ships, dark matter, pirates or simply nothing. This random mechanic creates tension and income variance — a space exploration system that arcade games cannot offer.
Three classes for three play styles
OGame offers a choice between three classes when registering that completely determine the gaming experience:
- Collector: Bonus on resource production, crawler ships, energy bonus. For players who prefer economic optimisation.
- General: Fleet speed, combat strength, recycler capacity. For aggressive fleet players who attack other players.
- Discoverer: Expedition bonus, extended phalanx range, additional planet slot. For players who prefer exploration and passive income.
Perfect for space fans who want more
OGame is ideal for players who love space themes but are bored by arcade formats. Browser access means: no download, no installation, playable on any device — but with strategic depth that console space games often don't achieve. Once you sink into OGame, you'll find a community that has been active for over 20 years.
