The Zodiac Temple is an instance dungeon in Metin2 that was introduced with game version 17.5. It consists of 40 levels with increasing difficulty, twelve different zodiac instances and a fixed reward system based on insignias. Gameplay is designed for groups, and entry is possible from level 20 onwards. Those who make it through all 40 levels will meet the Zodiac Merchant on the final floor and can purchase insignias directly from him.
Basic Information: How Does the Zodiac Temple Work?
The dungeon is divided into twelve instances, each representing one of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals. Not all instances are accessible daily – two different instances are open each day. The only exception: on Sunday, all twelve instances can be entered.
Within each instance, the group progresses through 40 levels. Each level gives you ten minutes to complete the respective task. If you don't manage it, the group is kicked out. If all players die simultaneously, a one-minute grace period runs before the group is removed.
After dying in the dungeon, a Prismatic Stone is needed to resurrect. The number of Prismatic Stones required increases with each additional death – so it's worth playing carefully and coordinating the group well.
Access and Requirements
From level 20 onwards, the Zodiac Temple can be entered. Access is via a teleporter that leads to the dungeon. The dungeon can only be started by the group leader by clicking on the respective portal.
Each player needs 12 Anima Spheres to enter. Players who don't want to or can't spend Anima Spheres have the option of using a special item instead – this grants three hours of free access without Anima Sphere costs.
Although level 20 is the minimum entry requirement, an experienced group is highly recommended. The tasks per level and the increasing difficulty make solo attempts practically pointless.
The 40 Levels: Structure and Time Mechanic
Each level displays a timer in the top right with three pieces of information: the current level (yellow text), remaining time, and the level you can jump to next (red text). Once the group completes a level, an arrow appears – with this, the group leader can jump to the indicated level.
Skipping levels is possible: depending on the time taken and the current level, up to five levels can be skipped. There is one important restriction: you can only jump to the next boss level. No jump is possible after a bonus level.
| Level | Special Feature | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| 1–33 | Regular tasks, increasing difficulty | Insignias possible after each level |
| 34 | Final Boss Level | Reward item for each player after defeating the boss |
| 35–39 | Additional task levels after the final boss | Insignias possible |
| 40 | Last level – Zodiac Merchant appears | Direct purchase of insignias for Yang |
The task types are basically the same for all twelve Zodiac dungeons. What changes: the monsters and the respective active elemental bonus. The active bonus depends on the chosen instance and should be considered when equipping the group. Bosses have their own mechanics, which can be read on their respective monster pages.
Final Boss on Level 34
The final boss of the respective dungeon appears on level 34. After defeating it, each group member receives a reward item. Which final boss appears depends on the chosen instance – each zodiac animal has its own boss with its own mechanics.
Before the final boss fight, the group should ensure sufficient Prismatic Stones are available. An unexpected group death shortly before the end would be an avoidable setback, as Prismatic Stone costs increase with each death.
Insignias – Reward System Explained
The core reward system of the Zodiac Temple is based on insignias. After successfully completing a level, there is a chance to receive insignias. The amount increases with each higher level.
There are two categories:
- Guardian Insignias: 12 different types
- Zodiac Insignias: 10 different types
Those who reach level 40 will meet the Zodiac Merchant. With him, all insignias can be purchased directly for Yang – this is useful if certain insignias are missing or if the group had a weaker level.
Insignias are redeemed with the Monk Milbon. Important: All insignias cannot be traded, stored in the warehouse, or dropped. They can only be sold to the general merchant – so don't carelessly discard them if you still need them.
| Type | Number of Variants | Redemption | Tradeable? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guardian Insignias | 12 | Monk Milbon | No |
| Zodiac Insignias | 10 | Monk Milbon | No |
Instances and Weekly Schedule
Every day, exactly two of the twelve instances are available. Those who prefer certain instances for their elemental bonus or drops should check the weekly schedule. Only on Sunday are all twelve instances accessible at the same time – the best day for targeted runs or to catch up on missed instances.
The tasks within the levels have the same structure across instances. The difference lies in the monsters and the elemental bonus. It's advisable to adjust the group's equipment before the run to match the currently active elemental bonus of the chosen instance.
Tips for Efficient Runs
- Bring Prismatic Stones: Costs increase with each death – if you die unprepared, you'll quickly pay more than planned.
- Clarify group leader role: Only the leader can select level jumps and start the portal. The role should be decided before entering.
- Optimise times: Quickly completing levels enables up to five jumps – this saves time and allows more runs per session.
- Consider elemental bonus: Each instance has a different active elemental bonus. Matching equipment significantly increases your damage.
- Use Sunday: For complete insignia collections or specific instance runs, Sunday is the most efficient day.
- Don't ignore the Zodiac Merchant: Those who reach level 40 should have Yang ready for missing insignias – the merchant is only available there.
