What is Sword Slash?
Sword Slash is an active skill of the Mental Warrior – one of the two teachings of the Warrior class in Metin2. The skill deals area damage and stuns hit enemies. This makes Sword Slash a central ability for this specialisation in both PvE farming and PvP. If you play a Mental Warrior, you can't get around Sword Slash.
Mental Warrior vs. Physical Warrior – choosing the right teaching
In Metin2, from level 5 onwards you can choose between two teachings via the quest "The Training". This choice determines which six class-specific skills are available. The Warrior has two options:

The Mental Warrior focuses on control and endurance: Stun from Sword Slash and Stamper combined with the defensive buff "Strong Body" make him a robust damage dealer who keeps enemies under control in close combat.
Skill points – System and distribution
The skill system in Metin2 is identical for all classes. The most important rules for point distribution:
- From level 5 you choose your teaching and receive 4 skill points immediately.
- For each additional level you gain 1 skill point.
- Skill points are distributed to your class skills in the Skills window.
- Once at least 1 point is set, the skill can be dragged to the quick access bar and used with keys 1–4 or F1–F4.
- The optimal number of points per skill is 17. Setting more than 17 points is considered "overskilled".
Each skill consumes mana points when used. The higher the skill level, the stronger the effect – and the higher the mana consumption. The cooldown after use varies depending on the skill and level.
Levelling Sword Slash – Skill books and wait times
To increase Sword Slash beyond pure point distribution, skill books are required. Reading skill books is subject to a 24-hour cycle: You can read each book once per day. An error message appears if the waiting time has not yet expired.
If you want to skip the wait time, you can use an Exorcism Scroll. This allows you to read a skill book immediately without waiting.
Skill levels range from basic levels to Master levels (M1–M10) and Grand Master levels. With higher levels, both the effect of Sword Slash and the complexity of levelling increase.
Resetting skills – costs and procedure
If you have allocated skills incorrectly or want to switch teachings, you can reset your skills with the Old Woman up to and including level 30 for a Yang fee. The following applies:
- All normally allocated skill points are refunded.
- Master levels achieved through books (M2–M10) and Grand Master levels are lost.
- A reset makes sense when "overskilled" – that is, more than 17 points on a single skill.

Important: If a skill does not jump to the next level at 17 points after reset with the Old Woman, you can retry the reset immediately without losing a skill point. The jump at 17 points is not guaranteed. Alternatively, a Skill Redistribution Document (also: Skill Reset Document) is available as an item, which has the same effect.
Quick access and combo utilisation
Sword Slash, like all active skills, can be dragged to the quick access bar. The following key bindings are possible:
- Keys 1–4 or F1–F4 for quick access
- Alternative: Right-click directly on the skill in the Skills window
- Some skills can also be placed on the left or right mouse button
The combo system also allows you to extend the strike chain by up to two additional strikes. For an effective Mental Warrior build, it's worth incorporating Sword Slash sensibly into your combo sequence, as the stun benefits the damage of subsequent hits.
Mental Warrior build – recommendation for skill distribution
Based on the wiki sources, the following basic recommendation can be derived for skill point distribution:
- 17 points in Sword Slash – core skill, maximum efficiency without overskilling
- 17 points in Strong Body – defensive buff, from Grand Master level onwards no knockdown
- 17 points in Stamper – additional stun chance plus area damage
- Remaining points in Pierce or Heavy Strike for additional area damage
Never allocate more than 17 points per skill – this is considered overskilled and requires a paid reset. The Master levels (M-levels) are achieved exclusively by reading skill books, not by additional skill points.
