What is the Lycan?

The Lycan is a playable class in Metin2. It is played in melee combat and uses its own equipment line.

Unlike other classes, the Lycan has only one doctrine. This doctrine is called Instinct. The Lycan can only be created as a male character.

Lycan's Doctrine

Doctrine Focus
Instinct Melee skills, buffs and passive enhancements

Since the Lycan has only one doctrine, there is no choice between two different specialisations. The playstyle results from the combination of its attack skills, support skills, passive enhancements and equipment.

Lycan Attack Skills

The Lycan uses several direct attack skills. Many of them are frontal attacks or attacks with additional effects.

Skill Classification
Rend frontal attack with bleeding chance
Wolf's Leap jump attack that can hit targets in the surrounding area
Wolf's Breath frontal attack with stun chance
Wolf's Claw frontal attack with armour shredding
Claw Storm fast spinning attack forward

Rend is a frontal attack. The skill has a bleeding chance and uses a weapon bonus.

Wolf's Leap is a jump attack that can hit targets in the surrounding area. This skill also uses a weapon bonus.

Wolf's Breath is a frontal attack with stun chance. The skill ignores the opponent's escape and uses a weapon bonus.

Wolf's Claw is a frontal attack that can shred the opponent's armour. This can reduce the opponent's defence and movement speed.

Claw Storm is a fast spinning attack forward. The skill hits frontally in an area and can be learned from Champion Level 1 onwards.

Support Skills

In addition to direct attacks, the Lycan has support skills.

Skill Classification
Purple Wolf Soul self buff for attack power
Indigo Wolf Soul group buff for attack speed and evasion

Purple Wolf Soul strengthens the Lycan itself. The skill increases attack power and can ignore the opponent's armour.

Indigo Wolf Soul supports the group. The skill increases attack speed and evasion of group members.

Passive Skills

The Lycan can use passive skills. These include a counter skill and Wolf's Breath Boost.

Wolf's Breath Boost strengthens Wolf's Breath. The skill can only be learned once the counter skill is at P and Wolf's Breath has at least one skill point.

Doctrine and Skill Levels

Since the Lycan has only the Instinct doctrine, its skills are developed within this doctrine.

Skills develop through several stages:

In addition, there are supplementary skills such as counter skills, boost skills and champion level skills.

Lycan Weapons

Lycans use claws as class-specific weapons. These weapons can only be used by Lycans and affect attack damage and attack speed.

Weapon Type Meaning
Claws class-specific weapons of the Lycan

For Lycan weapons, level requirements, base values, possible bonuses, sockets and upgrade level count. Claws can receive spirit stones if the respective item has matching sockets. The number of sockets determines how many spirit stones can be inserted.

Lycan Armour

Lycans wear their own class-specific armour. This armour is bound to specific level ranges and has values such as defence, movement speed, socket count and, depending on the armour, other fixed properties.

Important properties of Lycan armour are:

Armour is part of the equipment where sockets and spirit stones can be relevant. What values and sockets an armour has depends on the respective item.

Lycan Helmets

Lycans can wear their own class-specific helmets. These helmets differ from the helmets of other classes mainly in name, appearance and origin. The basic properties are comparable across classes for helmets of the same level. An exception is the bonus properties of level 80 helmets.

Important Lycan helmets are:

Level Lycan Helmet Classification
1 Skeleton Helmet early Lycan helmet with defence
21 Black Cloth Helmet Lycan helmet for lower level ranges
41 Thunder Helmet Lycan helmet with higher defence value
60 Heavenly Blessing Helmet Lycan helmet with block
80 Greenwood Helmet Lycan helmet with stun
100 Heavenly Dragon Helmet higher level Lycan helmet

Helmets cannot be improved with ores or spirit stones. Spirit stones and ores therefore do not belong to the helmet slot.

For Lycan helmets, mainly required level, defence value, fixed additional values, possible bonuses and upgrade level count. Unlike weapons and armour, helmets have no spirit stone sockets.

Sockets and Spirit Stones

Lycan weapons and Lycan armour can have sockets. Matching spirit stones can be inserted into free sockets.

Sockets are an additional improvement level. Through spirit stones, equipment pieces can receive additional values.

When inserting a spirit stone, the attempt can fail. Then a stone fragment remains in the socket. A stone fragment gives no active bonus and blocks the socket.

Ores and Jewellery

Ores are part of the jewellery system. They are obtained through mining, refined and used on matching jewellery items.

For the Lycan this means: Ores do not belong to weapons, armour or helmets, but to jewellery items. Helmets cannot be improved with ores.

Bonuses on Lycan Equipment

In addition to base values, sockets and spirit stones, equipment pieces can have additional bonuses. These bonuses are a separate improvement level.

Bonus Type Examples
Weapon Defence Sword Defence, Two-Handed Defence, Dagger Defence, Bell Defence, Fan Defence
Resistances Arrow Resistance, Magic Resistance, Lightning Resistance, Wind Resistance, Fire Resistance
Character Values Max HP, Max MP
Absorption Damage is absorbed from HP, Damage is absorbed from MP
Combat Values Attack Value, Spell Speed
Defensive Effects Chance to reflect melee hits, Defence chance against claws

Fixed values of an item and additional bonuses are different properties. An item can have its own fixed values and additionally carry further bonuses.

Upgrade and Development

Lycan equipment can be expanded through improvement levels. Depending on the item, certain values increase.

When developing equipment further, the item, required materials, existing bonuses, spirit stones and the current upgrade level count. Before major upgrades, you should check which values are retained and which properties may change.

Important Basics for Lycans

For the Lycan, the interaction of several areas counts:

A Lycan is not defined by a single skill or a single equipment value. What matters is the combination of class, skills, weapons and equipment.

Fun Fact: Lycan Maddäus and Lycaninho

Lycan Maddäus and Lycaninho are beast seals with Lycan themes. Both belong to the category beast seals and creatures and come from the item shop. For the Lycan, they are rather a thematic side note than part of a build.
