Poison Arrow is a special skill of the Archer class in Metin2. You gain skill points from Level 5 onwards – at Level 5 you receive four points immediately, then one with each additional level. You distribute these points strategically across Poison Arrow and your other class skills to shape your build. The higher your skill level, the stronger the effect.
What is Poison Arrow in Metin2?
Poison Arrow is one of six special skills that Archers can learn in their respective discipline. In Metin2, each of the five classes has two separate disciplines, each with six special skills. You choose your discipline through the quest "The Training" at Level 5 – after that you're locked into this discipline until you actively reset.
Poison Arrow costs mana points when used. After activation, the skill automatically recharges – the cooldown varies depending on your skill level. As your level increases, the skill's effectiveness grows noticeably. Additionally, you can further improve the effect with certain items.
Skill Points: How to Level Poison Arrow
The skill system in Metin2 works on a clear principle: From Level 5 onwards, you receive your first four skill points through the quest "The Training". After that, you gain one additional point per level gained. You distribute these points in the skills window across the class skills of your chosen discipline.
- From Level 5: Start quest "The Training" → receive 4 skill points, choose discipline
- Per level after: +1 skill point
- You must distribute at least 1 point to a skill to use it actively
- Place trained skills via drag & drop onto the quickbar (keys 1–4 or F1–F4)
- Alternatively: Right-click the skill in the skills window
Important: Don't distribute more than 17 points to a single skill before it jumps to the next master level. If it doesn't happen automatically at 17 points, you're "overskilled" – in this case you'll need a skill book or a skill reset.
Skill Books: Waiting or Exorcism Scroll
Skills in Metin2 can be trained by reading skill books. There's a strict 24-hour cycle – you can read all available skill books in parallel on a 24-hour rhythm. Depending on elapsed time, different messages appear explaining why you still need to wait.
Want to skip the waiting time? That's what the Exorcism Scroll is for. It resets the cooldown and lets you read the respective skill book immediately again. This is especially useful if you want to level your Poison Arrow build quickly.
| Mechanic | Details |
|---|---|
| Reading cooldown | 24 hours per skill book |
| Readable in parallel | Yes, all books simultaneously on 24-hour cycle |
| Skip cooldown | Use Exorcism Scroll |
| Book effectiveness | Raises skill level beyond point allocation |
Reset Skills: Old Woman and Skill Reset
You've overskilled or want to try another discipline? In Metin2 there are two ways to reset:
1. Reset with the Old Woman (up to Level 30)
Up to and including Level 30, you can reset your skills with the Old Woman for a Yang fee. You get all spent skill points back. Caution: Points you received from master levels (M2–M10) or grand master levels are lost. The reset costs different amounts of Yang depending on your level.
| Level | Reset Costs (Yang) |
|---|---|
| 5 | 20,000 Yang |
| 6 | 22,000 Yang |
| 10 | 30,000 Yang |
| 20 | 50,000 Yang |
| 30 | 70,000 Yang |
Price formula: 20,000 Yang (Level 5) + 2,000 Yang per additional level.
If a skill still doesn't jump at 17 points after resetting with the Old Woman, you can try again with her directly – without losing another skill point.
2. Skill Reset (Skill Reset Document)
For higher levels or special situations, there's the Skill Reset item (also known as Skill Reset Document). It allows complete skill point redistribution regardless of level. This item is especially relevant if you're above Level 30 and can no longer reset with the Old Woman.
Overskilled – What to Do?
"Overskilled" in Metin2 means: You've distributed more than 17 skill points to a skill without it jumping to the next master level. This happens when the book system doesn't trigger the transition. Key steps to fix this:
- Check if you can use an appropriate skill book to force the transition
- Alternatively: Use a Skill Reset (Skill Reset Document)
- At Level ≤ 30: Go to the Old Woman and reset there
- After reset, immediately distribute the skill to 17 points again and wait for the master jump
Add Poison Arrow to Quickbar – Here's How
Once you've distributed at least one point to Poison Arrow, you can use the skill actively. Metin2 offers several ways to make Poison Arrow quickly accessible:
- Drag & Drop: Drag Poison Arrow from the skills window onto the quickbar at the bottom of your screen
- Keys 1–4 or F1–F4: Each slot on the bar can be accessed with these keys
- Right-click: Right-click directly on Poison Arrow in the skills window to use it immediately
- Mouse buttons: Certain skills can be bound to left or right mouse button – check in the skills window whether Poison Arrow supports this
Counter and Boost Skills: What Comes After Poison Arrow?
The Metin2 skill system has two special categories beyond the six main skills:
- Counter skills: Unlocked once certain basic skills have been mastered
- Boost skills: Become selectable only after a counter skill is mastered
This progression is visible across all classes in the skills window and applies to Archer builds around Poison Arrow as well. Plan your skill path ahead: Which counter skill do you want to master to unlock the right boost skill later?
Frequently Asked Questions About Poison Arrow in Metin2
From what level can I skill Poison Arrow?
From Level 5. With the quest "The Training" you choose your discipline and receive the first four skill points, which you can immediately distribute to Poison Arrow or other class skills.
How many skill points do I need for Poison Arrow?
You can play actively with Poison Arrow from 1 point onwards. Up to the master jump, you can invest up to 17 points – don't distribute more without the transition happening, otherwise you'll be overskilled.
What happens if I distribute more than 17 points to Poison Arrow?
You're "overskilled". Poison Arrow then won't jump to the next master level. In this case, use a skill book or a Skill Reset item to reset your points.
How often can I read skill books for Poison Arrow?
Once every 24 hours per book. You can read all skill books in parallel on a 24-hour cycle. With an Exorcism Scroll you can bypass the cooldown and read immediately again.
What does a skill reset with the Old Woman cost?
On Level 5 the reset costs 20,000 Yang. The price increases by 2,000 Yang per level. On Level 30 the fee is 70,000 Yang. Reset is only possible up to and including Level 30.
Do I lose progress when resetting skills?
Yes. When resetting with the Old Woman, you get your spent points back but lose points from master levels (M2–M10) and grand master levels. Plan for this before resetting.
Can I bind Poison Arrow to my mouse button?
Certain skills in Metin2 can be bound to left or right mouse button. Whether this is possible for Poison Arrow depends on the skill itself – check directly in the skills window in-game.
What's the difference between Skill Reset and the Old Woman's reset?
The Old Woman only resets up to Level 30 for Yang. Skill Reset (Skill Reset Document) is a special item that works for higher levels too and can be used independently of the Yang fee.
