What is the Spirit Strike skill?
Spirit Strike (also known as Durchschlag in German, Penetrazione in Italian, or Pulso Espiritual in Spanish) is one of six specialised skills of the Mental Warrior doctrine. The skill deals AoE damage – hitting multiple enemies at once – making it particularly effective for farming groups of monsters or in crowded mob situations.
The Mental Warrior is one of two doctrines of the Warrior class in Metin2. Whilst the Body Warrior focuses on offensive single-target and AoE attacks with high mobility, the Mental variant emphasises defence and controlled damage output. Spirit Strike is one of the core damage skills of this specialisation.
All Mental Warrior skills at a glance
The Mental Warrior has six class-specific skills. Spirit Strike is one of them and focuses purely on AoE damage without additional control effects:
| Skill | Type | Special Feature |
|---|---|---|
| Strong Body | Passive / Buff | Defence increases, movement speed decreases; no knockdown at Expert rank |
| Sword Strike | Attack (AoE) | Stun + AoE damage |
| Stomp | Attack (AoE) | Stun chance + AoE damage |
| Spirit Strike | Attack (AoE) | AoE damage |
| Violent Strike | Attack (AoE) | AoE damage |
Note: "Strong Body" is the only non-offensive skill of the Mental Warrior – it increases survivability, especially at Expert rank by preventing knockdown.
Skill points: How the skill system works in Metin2
Skills are upgraded in Metin2 using skill points. Key rules to remember:
- From Level 5 onwards, you choose your doctrine (here: Mental Warrior) and receive your first four skill points.
- With each subsequent level-up, you gain 1 additional skill point.
- You distribute skill points in the skills window across your six class skills.
- Once you've allocated at least 1 point to a skill, you can drag it onto the quick access bar and use it with keys 1–4 or F1–F4.
- Each skill cast costs mana points – the higher the skill level, the more mana is consumed.
- After use, there is a cooldown that varies depending on the skill.
Skill books: Advancing Spirit Strike to master and expert rank
To raise Spirit Strike beyond normal skill level, you'll need skill books. For Spirit Strike, there are two special book types:
- Spirit Strike Boost (Boost skill book): Increases the skill after the master transition.
- Spirit Strike Counter (Counter skill book): Once a counter skill is mastered, a boost skill can be selected.
Skill books can be read once every 24 hours. The system will show you how long you must wait if you try to read too soon. To skip the waiting time, use an Exorcism Scroll.
Understanding and avoiding skill misallocation
One of the most common mistakes in Metin2's skill system – particularly relevant for Spirit Strike – is skill misallocation. This means you've invested more than 17 skill points in a skill without it transitioning to master status.
Mastery transition (rank-up) doesn't happen automatically at exactly 17 points – it's chance-based. So you need to keep in mind:
- Distribute points to Spirit Strike one at a time and check after each point whether the skill has advanced.
- If the skill hasn't advanced after 17 points, misallocation is possible – use the skill book or skill reset.
- If the skill still doesn't advance at 17 points after reset with the Old Woman, you can try again immediately without losing a point.
Resetting skills: Costs and options
If you're unhappy with your skill distribution or want to try a new doctrine, you can reset your skills. There are two ways to do this:
1. Old Woman (up to Level 30, costs Yang)
Up to and including Level 30, the Old Woman will reset your skills for a Yang fee. You'll get all your skill points back, but you'll lose any master levels M2 through M10 gained through books and any expert levels already achieved.
| Level | Reset Cost (Yang) |
|---|---|
| 5 | 20,000 Yang |
| 6 | 22,000 Yang |
| 7 | 24,000 Yang |
| 10 | 30,000 Yang |
| 20 | 50,000 Yang |
| 30 | 70,000 Yang |
Formula: 20,000 Yang (Level 5) + 2,000 Yang per additional level.
2. Skill reset (Skill Reset Document)
As an alternative to the Old Woman, there's the Skill Reset Document item. This item allows a skill reset without the level limit imposed by the Old Woman and is especially useful later in your progression.
Using Spirit Strike effectively on your quick access bar
Once you've allocated at least one point to Spirit Strike, drag it onto your quick access bar. In combat, you can then call it up with 1–4 or F1–F4. Alternatively, you can right-click the skill in the skills window to use it directly.
Since Spirit Strike is an AoE attack, position yourself so that as many enemies as possible are within the damage radius. Combined with Sword Strike or Stomp – both of which have stun effects – you can briefly immobilise enemies and then deal maximum AoE damage with Spirit Strike.
Frequently asked questions about Spirit Strike
What does the Spirit Strike skill do exactly?
Spirit Strike is an AoE damage skill of the Mental Warrior in Metin2. It hits multiple enemies within the area of effect simultaneously, without additional control effects like stun.
Is Spirit Strike only available to the Mental Warrior?
Yes. Spirit Strike is exclusive to the Mental Warrior doctrine. Body Warriors and all other classes do not have access to this skill.
How many skill points should I allocate to Spirit Strike?
A maximum of 17 points before the skill transitions to master status. More than 17 points without a master transition means misallocation. Distribute points one at a time and check the result after each point.
What happens if I misallocate my points?
Misallocation means you've invested more than 17 points in a skill without it transitioning to master status. In that case, you should use a skill reset or reset your skills with the Old Woman (up to Level 30).
How can I raise the Spirit Strike skill beyond normal level?
You can use the Spirit Strike Boost (Boost skill book) to increase the skill after the master transition. Books can be read once every 24 hours; with an Exorcism Scroll, you can skip the waiting time.
What's the difference between Spirit Strike Boost and Spirit Strike Counter?
The Spirit Strike Boost book increases the skill after mastery (Boost skill). The Spirit Strike Counter book is a counter skill book – once a counter skill is mastered, you can select a boost skill instead.
Can I reset my skills after Level 30?
The Old Woman only performs skill resets up to and including Level 30. For higher levels, the Skill Reset Document item is available, which removes this restriction.
When can I start using the Spirit Strike skill?
From Level 5 onwards, you choose your doctrine and receive your initial skill points. As soon as you allocate at least 1 point to Spirit Strike as a Mental Warrior, the skill is active and ready to use.
