Ikariam Servers
Ikariam operates multiple servers per language region. Each server is an independent game world with its own islands, players and alliances. Servers bear Greek god names and have different ages — from freshly opened to long-established worlds. You can play on multiple servers simultaneously, with each account being independent.
Server Merges
Regularly, servers with low activity are merged. This ensures lively worlds with enough active players. Affected players are informed before a merge. All towns, troops and resources are retained. In case of name conflicts, the older account takes priority. Merges are overall positive — they revitalise the game world and create new diplomatic constellations.
Choosing a New Server
New players should choose as young a server as possible — there the power balance is still even and starting conditions are fair. Alternatively, there are speed servers with accelerated pace for faster progress and shorter construction times. Older servers have the advantage of an established community but can be intimidating when the top players are far ahead.
Maintenance Times
Scheduled maintenance usually takes place in the early morning hours and lasts a few hours. Announcements are made in the official forum and in the lobby. During maintenance, affected servers are not reachable. Unscheduled maintenance is rare but is also communicated promptly. After updates, short restarts may be necessary.
