The Town Wall
The town wall is your most important protection against enemy attacks. It reduces the damage of attacking troops and gives your defenders a bonus to resistance and hit points. A wall at level 10 makes your garrison nearly twice as effective as without a wall.
The wall is unlocked through military research and requires wood and marble. Sedan marble is scarce at the start, plan the construction carefully — ideally when you have a stable marble trading partner.
Defence Strategi
The best defence combines a high wall level with a mixed garrison. Phalanx as front defenders, archers behind them, steam giants for massive damage. The garrison size depends on the threat level: 20 to 50 defenders on quiet islands, 100 or more in contested areas.
Upgrade the hideout to protect resources from plunderers. Resources stored in the hideout cannot be looted — particularly important for overnight stockpiles.

Visible strength prevents attacks. A player with a high wall level and an active alliance is rarely attacked. Pay attention to your visible military score — potential attackers check this. Diplomatic deterrence through a strong alliance is also effective: an attack on one member is often an attack on the entire alliance.
Passive Protection
Holiday mode protects your town for several days during extended absence. Beginner protection prevents attacks in the first few days. Resources on trade ships cannot be plundered — an effective emergency trick when attacks are imminent. Send resources to allies when an attack has been announced.
Deterrence as a Strategi
Visible strength prevents attacks. A player with a high wall level and an active alliance is rarely attacked. Pay attention to your visible military score — potential attackers check this before every attack. Diplomatic deterrence through a strong alliance is also effective: many attackers avoid alliance members out of fear of coordinated retaliation from the entire community.
