Research Strategi

The research order determines your long-term success. Each technology costs research points and time — wrong priorities slow you down for weeks. Unlike buildings, research cannot be undone, so plan carefully.

Priority 1: Fundamentals (Week 1)

Start with Prosperity in the Økonomi branch for better production. Then Preservation in the Seafaring branch for trade. Wine Production is essential for satisfaction, and Paper in the Science branch significantly reduces research costs. These four technologies form the foundation of your entire game.

Priority 2: Expansion (Week 2–3)

Ink and Invention in the Science branch accelerate further research. Cartography in the Seafaring branch increases transport speed — particularly important when you start trading actively. Weaponry in the Militær branch unlocks the Barracks — only research it when you are ready for military.

During this phase, you should also check which technologies your alliance members recommend. Experienced players know the server's meta strategy and can help you avoid suboptimal research choices.

From here, your playstyle decides. Aggressive players focus on the Militær branch for better units and combat bonuses. Økonomi players invest in Governors and trade bonuses. Scientists maximise research speed for technological superiority.
