What does "endless content" mean in an MMORPG?
Many games promise "endless content" and mean: repeatable grinding with random loot tables. Metin2 also has grinding — but it also has genuine, varied content that does not run dry over months. The difference: you can "finish" a game. You cannot finish Metin2.
Since its European launch in 2007, Metin2 has received continuous updates. New dungeons, event seasons, balance patches, new items, and occasional new classes expand the game permanently. Anyone starting today faces a mountain of content that earlier players never had.
Content layers in Metin2
Early and mid-game: levelling and first systems
The first few weeks offer the most guided experience: choosing a class, completing quest lines, exploring first dungeons. The Dungeon of the Exiled and the Tigerghost Dungeon offer beginner-friendly group content. In parallel, the Biologist Quests begin, already providing permanent bonuses from the start.
Mid-game: unlocking systems
From Level 70, Metin2 truly opens up: the alchemy system, pet development, and the first set bonus decisions become relevant. The Nemere Dungeon (from Level 90) and Hydra (from Level 100) demand preparation. The item market grows more complex — and for traders, it offers content of its own.
Endgame: no end in sight
Metin2's endgame is one of the most content-rich in the free-to-play space:
- Meley Dungeon (from Level 105) — the dragon boss with the most coveted drops
- Jotun-Thrym (from Level 110) — one of the most challenging dungeons in the game
- Snake Temple — endgame zone with Snake equipment as a long-term goal
- Full Biologist bonuses — a months-long project with daily submissions
- Full pet optimisation — bringing every pet to maximum takes weeks
- Moonlight weapons — alternative endgame weapons with their own crafting path
Events and seasonal content
The Metin2 event calendar is packed throughout the year: Tigerghost events with double drops, Ruby and Sapphire events, Happy Hours with double experience, seasonal events for Easter, Halloween, and Christmas, as well as Twitch Drops for viewers. Events deliver limited items and new farming goals that regularly refresh the feel of the game.

20 years of development — what was added
Metin2 launched in 2004 in Korea as an action MMORPG with base classes and a simple combat system. Over the following two decades came: the Lycan class (werewolf, most recent class), the pet system, the alchemy system, all six original dungeons plus new instances, the kingdom PvP system, and most recently the Tyranny of Aamon update. Metin2 in 2026 is a different game from Metin2 in 2010 — and will be different again in five years.
