TL;DR: In Metin2, you distribute skill points to class-specific skills starting at level 5. Misspecced? The Old Woman resets everything for a Yang fee until level 30.

In Metin2, you receive your first four skill points at level 5 and one additional point for each level-up thereafter. You distribute these points among the six skills of your chosen discipline. Anyone who places their points incorrectly – that is, assigns more than 17 points to a single skill – is considered "misspecced" and should consider a restart with the Old Woman or through skill redistribution. "Remove spells" (also known internationally as "Dispel") is the in-game term for removing buffs or debuffs in combat.

What Does "Remove Spells" Mean in Metin2?

The term remove spells (internationally also known as "Dispel," "Contre-sort," or "Annullamento Magia") refers in Metin2 to a skill that negates or removes magical effects. In the skills window, you'll find both your class-specific offensive and defensive skills as well as so-called counter and boost skills: once you've mastered a counter skill, a corresponding boost skill unlocks. Mechanics like removing spells are part of this system.

The Skill System at a Glance

Skills in Metin2 are special abilities for your character. In the skills window, you'll distinguish between two main categories:

Each of the five classes has two disciplines with six skills each. With the quest "The Training" at level 5, you commit to a discipline and immediately receive your first four skill points. The window also displays your current combo progress and the languages you've learned from other kingdoms.

Skills consume mana points when used. After use, they recharge – the cooldown varies depending on the skill and level. The higher your skill level, the stronger the effect. Certain items can further improve the effect.

Class Skills: Physical Warrior & Mental Warrior

To make the skill system tangible, here's a direct comparison of the two Warrior disciplines. Your choice between them fundamentally determines your playstyle.

Skills: Physical Warrior vs. Mental Warrior
Physical Warrior Effect (Brief) Mental Warrior Effect (Brief)
Aura of the Sword Attack power increases (depending on level & STR) Strong Body Defence increases, movement decreases; knockdown immunity at GM
Battle Frenzy Movement & attack speed increase; defence decreases at GM Sword Slash Stun, area damage
Triple Strike Three strikes in rapid succession Stomp Stun chance, area damage
Sword Whirlwind Strong area damage (whirlwind) Penetrating Strike Area damage
Rush Stun attack, brief speed boost Heavy Strike Area damage
Will to Live Frontal attack
Earthquake Frontal attack

Distributing Skill Points: How to Use Them Correctly

As soon as you've assigned at least one point to a skill, you can drag it onto the hotbar at the bottom of your screen. Keys 14 or F1F4 activate the skills in combat. Alternatively, right-click in the skills window. Certain skills can also be placed directly on your left or right mouse button.

The most important rule: Never assign more than 17 points to a single skill before it jumps to the next level. Anyone who assigns points beyond that is "misspecced" and loses skill points effectively, as the level bonus points (M2–M10) are lost.

Skill Books and the 24-Hour Cooldown

Skills can be improved not only through point distribution, but also by reading skill books. You can read all books in parallel on a 24-hour cooldown. Depending on how much time has passed since your last read, you'll receive a different message about why reading isn't yet possible. If you want to skip the cooldown, you can use an Exorcism Scroll – this lifts the cooldown block.

Resetting Skills: Old Woman & Skill Redistribution

Until level 30 inclusive, you can reset your skills with the Old Woman for a Yang fee. You get all your skill points back – but lose the bonus points you gained through master levels (M2–M10) and grand master levels.

A reset makes sense in two situations:

Important: It's not guaranteed that a skill will jump to the next level at exactly 17 points. If that doesn't happen, you can reset immediately with the Old Woman again without losing a point. Alternatively, skill redistribution (Skill Reset Document) is available as an item.

Costs for Resetting Skills with the Old Woman
Level Cost (Yang)
5 20,000 Yang
6 22,000 Yang
7 24,000 Yang
10 30,000 Yang
20 50,000 Yang
30 70,000 Yang

Formula: 20,000 Yang (base at level 5) + 2,000 Yang per additional level.

Counter and Boost Skills, Plus Combo

Alongside the six main skills of your discipline, there are two special categories in the skills window:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is "Remove Spells" in Metin2?

"Remove spells" (English: Dispel) is a skill in Metin2 that removes magical effects. Internationally, it's also known as "Contre-sort" (French), "Annullamento Magia" (Italian) or "Rozproszenie Magii" (Polish).

When Can I Start Distributing Skill Points in Metin2?

Starting at level 5. With the quest "The Training," you immediately receive four skill points and choose your discipline. From then on, you receive one additional point per level-up.

What Does "Misspecced" Mean in Metin2?

Misspecced means you've assigned more than 17 skill points to a single skill. As a result, the skill won't jump to the next level, and you effectively lose points. This can be fixed by resetting with the Old Woman or using skill redistribution.

How Do I Reset Skills in Metin2?

Until level 30, you can reset with the Old Woman in-game for a Yang fee. Costs start at 20,000 Yang at level 5 and increase by 2,000 Yang per level. Alternatively, there's the "Skill Reset Document" item.

Do I Lose All My Skill Points When Resetting?

You get all assigned skill points back. However, you lose the bonus points gained through master levels (M2–M10) and grand master levels. These cannot be recovered.

What Does the Exorcism Scroll Do?

The Exorcism Scroll bypasses the 24-hour cooldown when reading skill books. This allows you to level up skills faster without waiting for the daily cooldown.

Does a Skill Always Jump to the Next Level at 17 Points?

No. It's not guaranteed that the skill will jump to the next level at exactly 17 points. If that doesn't happen, you can immediately reset again with the Old Woman without losing a point – or use skill redistribution.

How Do I Activate a Skill in Combat?

Drag the skill onto your hotbar and activate it with keys 1–4 or F1–F4. Alternatively, right-click the desired skill in the skills window. Some skills can also be placed directly on your mouse buttons.
