What Are Talisman Stones?

Talisman Stones are one of the core upgrade systems in Metin2. They are special gemstones that can be socketed into your equipment to grant permanent stat bonuses. Unlike the standard Yang-based enhancement, Talisman Stones are modular — you actively choose which bonuses to prioritise.

The system has been part of Metin2 since its early days and has been significantly expanded over the years. Today, Talisman Stones exist in various tiers and categories, ranging from simple attack stones to rare resistance stones that make all the difference in end-game content. Anyone serious about progression cannot afford to ignore optimising their Talisman Stones.

Stone Types and Their Bonuses

Talisman Stones can be broadly divided into four categories:

Attack Stones

These stones directly increase your physical or magical damage output. For offensive classes such as the Warrior (Body Build), the Bow Ninja, or the Weapon Sura, they are the first choice. Values scale with stone tier from +5 up to +30 attack at maximum quality.

Defence Stones

These increase your armour class or magical defence. Particularly important for tanks and PvP-focused players. A Mental Warrior fully kitted out with defence stones becomes significantly more resilient in guild warfare.

Resistance Stones

These reduce damage from specific elemental types — fire, water, earth, wind. In high-level dungeons such as Nemere or Meley, the right resistance stones can dramatically improve your survival chances. Many experienced players swap stones depending on the dungeon.

Utility Stones

These grant bonuses to movement speed, experience points, Yang drop chance, or healing effects. Experience stones are interesting for levellers, Yang bonuses for traders. This category is often underestimated.

Stone Tiers and Quality

Talisman Stones come in several quality tiers. Lower tiers are farmed from regular monsters and Metin Stones, while higher tiers are rare drops from challenging dungeons or can be upgraded through alchemy.

Stone TierSourceTypical Bonus
Tier 1–2Regular monsters, open fields+5 to +8
Tier 3–4Metin Stones, merchants+10 to +15
Tier 5–6Dungeons, alchemy upgrade+18 to +25
Tier 7–9End-game dungeons, events+28 to +35

Upgrading stones is done via the Alchemist NPC or with special upgrade items from the Item Shop. Success rates decrease with each tier — stone protection items safeguard against loss on a failed upgrade.

Socket Count and Socketing

Not every item automatically has sockets. Some pieces come without any and must first be given sockets at the Blacksmith NPC using socketing items. The maximum number of sockets depends on the item type, ranging from one to three.

Weapons typically receive up to two sockets, armour pieces up to three. Jewellery usually has only one socket, but often offers special bonus combinations in return. There is a small chance that an item becomes damaged during socketing — make sure to safeguard your valuable items beforehand.

Optimal Stone Sets per Class

Warrior (Body Build)

Focus on physical attack stones in the weapon, defence stones in the armour. Movement speed as a complement — a Warrior who cannot catch his target is useless.

Ninja (Bow)

Maximise attack stones, combined with speed stones. The Bow Ninja lives off high damage at range — defence is secondary, survival comes from reach and mobility.

Sura (Weapon)

Prioritise magical attack stones, supplemented with magic resistances against the most common PvP opponents. The Weapon Sura is a hybrid damage dealer and benefits from both attack types.

Shaman

Combine healing bonuses with magical attack stones. In PvP, resistance stones against physical attacks are worthwhile, as Shamans are frequently targeted.

Lycan

Physical attack stones and movement speed. The Lycan is an aggressive melee fighter — its strength lies in rapid strikes, so anything that increases damage and mobility is valuable.

Farming Talisman Stones

The most efficient method for lower stone tiers is grinding on open-world maps suited to your character's level. Every Metin Stone in the world has a chance to drop Talisman Stones when destroyed — which makes the farming you would be doing anyway doubly rewarding.

For higher stone tiers, dungeon runs are the way to go. Nemere and Meley regularly drop quality stones of tier 5 and above. Players who make full use of their daily dungeon cooldowns will accumulate a solid stockpile over the course of weeks. Events also frequently offer Talisman Stones as rewards — keeping an eye on the event calendar is well worth the effort.

Talisman Stones can be bought and sold on the player marketplace. Prices tend to be lower shortly after events — a good time to top up your supply.
