What is the Stone of Evasion?
The Stone of Evasion belongs to the category of spirit stones in Metin2. Spirit stones are special items that you can insert into empty sockets of equipment items to provide the respective item with an additional bonus. The Stone of Evasion increases – as the name suggests – the evasion value of your character. This makes it particularly interesting for classes and builds that rely on evasion as a defence strategy rather than pure armour values.
Spirit stones cover a wide range of bonuses, from attack values to defence and special combat attributes such as evasion. Which stone makes sense for your build depends on your class and playstyle.
Which items can spirit stones be inserted into?
Spirit stones can be inserted into four different equipment slots, provided the respective item has at least one empty socket:
| Equipment type | Requirement | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Armour | At least 1 empty socket | Defensive bonuses particularly valuable |
| Weapon | At least 1 empty socket | Offensive or utility spirit stones |
| Gloves | At least 1 empty socket | Complements the armour slot |
| Shoes | At least 1 empty socket | Complements the armour slot |
To insert a spirit stone, simply drag the stone in your inventory onto the desired item. The stone then enhances the item by the stated value – or it breaks and remains as a stone fragment in the socket. This is the typical risk when inserting spirit stones.
Where do spirit stones drop in Metin2?
Spirit stones don't drop everywhere. There are clear rules about which monsters drop them and which don't:
- Metins from level 25 onwards (Metin of Darkness) drop spirit stones.
- The Great Ice Witch is also a source for spirit stones.
- All smaller Metins (below level 25) drop no spirit stones.
- Metins in the Demon Tower, in the Dragon's Chamber, in Nemere's Watch, in the Red Dragon Fortress and in The Devil's Catacomb also drop no spirit stones.
This means: If you want to farm spirit stones deliberately, you should focus on the overworld Metins from level 25 onwards. Dungeon farming is not effective for this purpose.
Spirit stones for ore refinement
In addition to inserting them into equipment, spirit stones have a second important use: the refinement of ores from alchemists. Spirit stones from +0 to +3 are required when you process ores with a responsible alchemist.
Example from the wiki: If you want to process 100 Ebony Ore with a Diamond Alchemist into Ebony, you need a spirit stone in addition to the ore and the Yang fee. Importantly: The spirit stone used in the refinement is completely destroyed and cannot be recovered. Factor this into your resource planning.
Remove stone fragments – Here's how
When inserting spirit stones, failures can occur. The result: stone fragments remain in the socket. These fragments block the slot and must be removed. There are several ways to do this:
- Blacksmith: Stone fragments can be removed via the blacksmith.
- Item Shop: There is a special item in the Item Shop (for 29 DR) that removes fragments. Important: If this item fails, the fragments are not removed.
Spirit stones themselves – i.e. complete, inserted stones – cannot simply be removed. To do this you need:
- Spirit Stone Scroll: Removes the spirit stone; you get the stone back, but stone fragments remain in the weapon or armour.
- Item Shop version of the scroll (for 49 DR): Removes the spirit stone without leaving fragments; you get the stone back.
The cheaper Spirit Stone Scroll has a catch: You get your stone back, but then have to have the fragments removed afterwards. For expensive items or if you plan to reinsert quickly, the Item Shop version is worth it for a smooth process.
| Method | What is removed? | Stone returned? | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blacksmith | Stone fragments | – | Yang |
| Item Shop (Fragment Remover) | Stone fragments | – | 29 DR |
| Spirit Stone Scroll | Spirit stone (leaves fragments) | Yes | In-game available |
| Item Shop Scroll | Spirit stone (no fragments) | Yes | 49 DR |
Tips for efficient handling of spirit stones
A few practical tips you should keep in mind when working with spirit stones:
- Finalise the item first, then insert spirit stones. Only insert spirit stones once the item itself is at the desired upgrade level. This saves you unnecessary scroll costs when removing.
- Store spirit stones for alchemy separately. If you want to refine ores regularly, keep a supply of low-level spirit stones (+0 to +3) on hand. These will be destroyed – don't waste valuable stones on this.
- Choose your farming location. When farming spirit stones, focus on overworld Metins from the Metin of Darkness onwards. Dungeon Metins don't drop spirit stones.
- Item Shop Scroll for important equipment. For expensive or rarely obtained equipment, the 49 DR version is worth it to avoid the risk of fragments.
- Factor in failed attempts. The insertion process can fail. For valuable spirit stones, plan for multiple attempts and make sure you have fragment removers on hand.
Frequently asked questions about the Stone of Evasion and spirit stones
What does the Stone of Evasion do in Metin2?
The Stone of Evasion is a spirit stone that increases your character's evasion value when inserted into an empty socket of a compatible item. It belongs to the large group of spirit stones that can enhance various attributes.
Which items can I insert the Stone of Evasion into?
Spirit stones – including the Stone of Evasion – can be inserted into armour, weapons, gloves and shoes, provided they have at least one empty socket. You drag the stone in your inventory onto the desired item.
Where do I farm the Stone of Evasion?
Spirit stones drop from Metins from level 25 onwards (Metin of Darkness) and from the Great Ice Witch. Smaller Metins and all Metins in dungeons such as the Demon Tower, Dragon's Chamber, Nemere's Watch, Red Dragon Fortress or The Devil's Catacomb drop no spirit stones.
What happens if the insertion attempt fails?
On failure, the spirit stone shatters and remains as a stone fragment in the socket. These fragments block the slot and must be removed via the blacksmith or an Item Shop item (29 DR).
How do I remove an inserted spirit stone again?
With a Spirit Stone Scroll (available in-game) or an Item Shop Scroll (49 DR). Both versions return the stone. However, the in-game scroll leaves stone fragments in the socket; the Item Shop version removes the stone without fragments.
Can I also use spirit stones for alchemy?
Yes. Spirit stones from +0 to +3 are needed for ore refinement from alchemists. The stone is completely destroyed in the process. Therefore, plan separate stones for alchemy and don't use valuable specimens for this.
What is the difference between the normal and Item Shop Spirit Stone Scroll?
The normal Spirit Stone Scroll removes the spirit stone and returns it, but leaves stone fragments in the socket. The Item Shop version costs 49 DR, also removes the stone and leaves no fragments – saving additional cleaning costs.
Do spirit stones drop in the Demon Tower?
No. Metins in dungeons such as the Demon Tower, Dragon's Chamber, Nemere's Watch, Red Dragon Fortress and The Devil's Catacomb drop no spirit stones. For spirit stone farming you must rely on overworld Metins from level 25 onwards.
