What is Leadership in Metin2?
Leadership is a special skill in Metin2 that differs from ordinary combat skills. Whilst combat skills grow through fighting experience, Leadership is improved exclusively by reading Leadership Books. It is a passive skill that gives the group leader distinct advantages.
The core function: a higher Leadership level increases the maximum number of group members you can lead. Without Leadership in the standard game, you are limited to smaller groups. Anyone who regularly runs dungeons or actively leads a guild benefits enormously from a high Leadership level.
What does a high Leadership level offer?
Leadership is about more than just "more players in the group". Here are the concrete benefits:
- Larger groups: As Leadership grows, you can add more players to your party — more firepower for dungeons
- Leader aura: High Leadership levels activate passive bonuses for all group members
- Dungeon requirements: Some dungeon content requires a minimum Leadership level from the group leader
- Guild functions: For guild leaders, Leadership is a recommended skill for better coordination
- Experience bonus in groups: Groups led by a high-Leadership player sometimes receive better experience distribution in certain situations
Leadership Books — the source of progress
Leadership is not raised through combat but solely by reading Leadership Books. These books are divided by level, consumed upon reading, and each provides a certain amount of Leadership experience. Higher-level books give more experience but are also rarer.
| Book Type | Leadership Experience | Rarity | Main Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leadership Book I | Low | Common | Normal monsters |
| Leadership Book II | Medium | Rare | Elite monsters, bosses |
| Leadership Book III | High | Very rare | Dungeon bosses |
| Leadership Book IV | Very high | Extremely rare | Endgame content |
| Master Leadership Book | Maximum | Legendarily rare | Special events, top bosses |
How do you read Leadership Books?
Reading a Leadership Book is straightforward: open your inventory, click on the book and select "Read" or "Use". The book is consumed and you immediately receive the Leadership experience. There is no waiting period, but the book is permanently gone afterwards — so make sure you are opening a Leadership Book and not another item.
Leadership levels at a glance
| Level | Title | Max. Group Members | Special Ability |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | Novice Leader | 4 | Basic group |
| 6–10 | Apprentice Leader | 5 | Small experience bonus |
| 11–20 | Advanced Leader | 6 | Group attack aura |
| 21–30 | Experienced Leader | 7 | Improved group aura |
| 31–40 | Captain | 8 | Strong group buffs |
| Master | Master Leader | Maximum | All Leadership bonuses active |
Where do you find Leadership Books?
Leadership Books do not drop from every monster — targeted farming is required:
- Elite monsters: Stronger field bosses and group bosses drop Leadership Books I and II regularly
- Dungeon bosses: Tigerghost, Nemere and other dungeon bosses are the best source for Books III and IV
- Player market: All Leadership Book types can be traded — often the quickest route
- Events: Seasonal events occasionally reward rare Leadership Books
- Quests: Some main quests award Leadership Books as a reward
Leadership for beginners — how to prioritise
For new players, Leadership is not the first priority. Focus initially on your combat skills, your equipment and the Biolog Quests. Leadership is a long-term investment that builds up over months.
Once you are regularly running dungeons with a fixed group or want to lead a guild, it becomes worthwhile to actively collect and read Leadership Books. Buy cheap Leadership Books I and II on the player market for a quick rise through the lower levels — save the higher-level books for the costly upper tiers.
