Metin2 Journey to the Otherworld – Event Guide

The Journey to the Otherworld is a temporary event dungeon in Metin2 that is accessible from level 90 onwards. The event is divided into two distinct phases: In Phase 1, you farm Deathflames from monsters and trade them for consumables. In Phase 2, you fight your way through the Otherworld, defeat four messengers, and eventually face the final boss Asmodeus. The event takes place at regular intervals of approximately 1–2 months and was first introduced in November 2021.

When Does the Event Take Place?

The event does not follow a fixed calendar schedule, but instead serves as a bridge between two seasonal events – for example, between the summer event and the Halloween event. The typical interval between two runs is 1 to 2 months. To see when a new run starts, check the Event UI in your game client: press the E key or click the E icon next to the minimap. There you will find all active events listed by server and channel.

Since the event recurs regularly, it's worthwhile to follow official Metin2 announcements to avoid missing the exact start time. From level 90 onwards, you can dive straight in – no prerequisite quest chain required.

Phase 1 – Collecting Deathflames and Preparing

In the first phase, the barriers to the Otherworld weaken – this is the in-game signal that the event has begun. Your task in this phase: farm Deathflames from regular monsters. Any monster can drop Deathflames as long as Phase 1 is active.

The collected Deathflames are managed in the Event Menu (press E) and can be traded there for the following items:

Important: Don't spare your Deathflames too thinly. You need the traded items directly in Phase 2 – without sufficient supplies, you won't make it through all four messengers and the final boss. Farm as early and intensively as possible once Phase 1 begins.

Phase 2 – Through the Otherworld to Asmodeus

Once Phase 1 ends, the Otherworld Portal opens at Dragon Fire Cape at the Harbour. Through this portal, you enter the Otherworld – a separate dungeon zone with four demonic trials.

The progression in Phase 2:

1. Defeat four messengers: Before you can challenge Asmodeus, you must prove yourself against four messengers. Each messenger is a separate battle. You can earn valuable rewards right here.
2. Battle Asmodeus: Once you have defeated all four messengers, the way to the final boss Asmodeus opens. For this fight, you need the Asmodeus Key that you traded for in Phase 1.
3. Enter Redemption: After defeating Asmodeus, you enter a special area called Redemption, where the event's best rewards await.

The items you collected in Phase 1 – Black Letters, Water of Life, and Souls of the Dead – are consumed during the battles in the Otherworld. Plan your supplies accordingly before entering the portal.

Rewards – What You Can Earn

The event offers rewards on two levels: when fighting the four messengers and in the final Redemption area after defeating Asmodeus. Known rewards include:

• Phoenix of Redemption – a companion that automatically collects loot for you
• Damnation Shield – a powerful shield item

The game does not publicly disclose exact drop rates. The most valuable items typically drop mainly in Redemption after the final boss. The more Deathflames you farmed and invested in Phase 1, the more times you can run through the Otherworld – provided you've traded for enough Asmodeus Keys.

Tips for an Efficient Event Run

• Start farming immediately: Phase 1 has a limited duration. Begin farming Deathflames right after the event starts to have enough material for multiple dungeon runs.
• Calculate your supplies: Don't blindly trade all your Deathflames for one item. Consider how many dungeon runs you plan and distribute your flames between Asmodeus Keys, Black Letters, Water of Life, and Souls of the Dead accordingly.
• Level check: The event starts at level 90. Characters below this level cannot participate – neither in farming Deathflames nor in entering the portal.
• Use the Event UI: All trades and your current flame count can be found directly in the Event Menu (E). Open it regularly to keep track of everything.
• Remember the portal location: The Otherworld Portal appears at Dragon Fire Cape at the Harbour – not in a major city. Make sure you know the route before Phase 2 begins.
• Don't underestimate the messenger fights: The four messengers are individual bosses. Don't enter the Otherworld unprepared, as consumables like Water of Life are spent directly there.

Classification in Metin2's Event System

Journey to the Otherworld belongs to the category of event dungeons – alongside Primordis Expedition and the Treasure Island Event, one of three such dungeons in the game. Unlike permanent dungeons, it is only accessible during the active event period.

You can view all active events – including the Otherworld – in the Event UI. The window also shows you which servers and channels currently have an event running. This helps you quickly find the right channel when the portal is active in Phase 2.

Since the event is used as a transition between two seasonal events, it's a great opportunity to stay active between major event phases and deliberately farm useful rewards – especially the Phoenix of Redemption, which is otherwise not readily available in normal gameplay.
