The horse in Metin2 is available from level 25 onwards and offers you significantly faster movement than running on foot. To get a horse, you must complete the horse quest with the Stablemaster, finish it successfully and bring the necessary in-game currency. Once you own a horse, you must feed it regularly, care for it and can level it up over time.

Requirements: When can you get a horse?

The most important requirement is simple: you must have reached at least level 25. Only then will the Stablemaster unlock the horse quest for you. Additionally, you need sufficient Yang (in-game currency) to complete the quest successfully. The exact amount depends on your progress in the game – so set aside Yang in time.

Besides the classic horse, there are a number of other mounts in Metin2. However, these are not available through the regular horse quest, but are either awarded in events or can be purchased in the item shop.

Calling your horse: Skill & mana costs

Once you own a horse, you can call it using the "Call Horse" skill. This skill indicates how well your character can call their horse – the higher the skill level, the more reliable the calling becomes.

Each call attempt costs mana points. The exact costs depend on the type of horse:

Mana costs when calling by horse type
Horse type Mana cost per call attempt
Normal horse 100 MP
Battle steed 200 MP
Military steed 300 MP

The "Call Horse" skill improves through usage – the more often you call your horse, the higher the skill level rises. Always keep enough mana ready if you want to use your horse regularly.

Feeding your horse: How to keep your horse alive

One of the most important gameplay elements around horses is feeding. Your horse must be fed regularly – if you neglect this, it will die from starvation. How often your horse needs food depends on its current horse level: a lower horse level means more frequent feeding intervals.

What food your horse needs depends on the horse type. Each horse type has its specific feed – generic food doesn't work the same way for all horse types. Check the horse care manual (accessible by clicking on your horse) to see what feed is currently needed.

The horse care manual

When you click on your horse, the horse care manual opens. Through this menu you have access to all central horse actions:

Reviving your horse: What to do if your horse dies?

Your horse dies only from starvation – not from combat damage. If this happens, you can revive it using a special herb from the Stablemaster. This herb is not sold in shops, but must be obtained through gameplay.

The various herb types are dropped by boss monkeys in the Monkey Dungeon (MD) – there are easy, medium and hard versions of the dungeon, and depending on your horse type, you need the herb from the corresponding dungeon. To revive your horse, you go to the Stablemaster and use the herb on your starved horse there.

Herb drops by Monkey Dungeon difficulty
Monkey Dungeon type Purpose
Easy Monkey Dungeon (MD) Herb for specific horse type
Medium Monkey Dungeon (MD) Herb for specific horse type
Hard Monkey Dungeon (MD) Herb for specific horse type

Tip: Don't let it get that far. Check your horse's hunger status regularly and feed it in time. When levelling, it's easy to forget about feeding.

Levelling your horse: Forget Scroll & horse sugar

The horse level determines, among other things, how often you need to feed your horse. There are two notable items that are relevant in connection with horse levelling:

Forget Scroll

With the Forget Scroll you can level up your horse directly and without waiting time. This costs 25 dragon coins (DR) per use. This method is particularly useful if you want to reach a higher horse level quickly without waiting for normal progression.

Horse sugar

The horse sugar has been available in the item shop since the patch on 9 June 2009 and costs 49 dragon coins. After use, you can give your horse a custom name of your choice for 30 days. Additionally, the horse's defence value increases by 20. It's a purely cosmetic and slightly defensive upgrade, not a game-changing item.

Horse medal: What is it used for?

The horse medal (internationally also known as "Medalla de Caballo", "Lómedál" or "Medal Konny") is an item in Metin2 that plays a role in the horse system. It is known under different names in several language versions of the game, making it an important item for international players. For detailed information on the exact use of the horse medal, you should check the current Metin2 wiki, as functions can change over patches.

Other mounts: Alternatives to the horse

The classic horse via the Stablemaster quest is not the only way to travel mounted in Metin2. There is a whole range of other mounts that are accessible in two ways:

These alternative mounts often follow different rules than the regular horse – for example, they don't need to be fed. For players who want to save on maintenance, an item shop mount can be a convenient alternative.
