What is Dragon Garnet?
Dragon Garnet belongs to the dragon stone alchemy system in Metin2, which was introduced with version 13.3 on 26 February 2013. It is one of seven stone types – alongside Onyx, Diamond, Ruby, Jade, Sapphire and Amethyst – and has its own effect on the character depending on the stone type. Dragon stones are not displayed in your normal inventory, but exclusively in a separate dragon stone inventory. You can open this via the corresponding button in your inventory, through the chat bar or using a keyboard shortcut.
Important to understand: Dragon stones like Garnet are not a classic equipment system. They enhance your character through an independent upgrade system with three improvement levels: Class, Purity and Tier.
The Three Improvement Levels of Dragon Garnet
The dragon stone alchemy system distinguishes three independent dimensions on which you can improve a Dragon Garnet. Each dimension affects the stone's impact on your character in different ways.
| Level | What It Does | Tiers / Values |
|---|---|---|
| Class | Increases the number of bonuses the stone can have | Raw, Polished, Rare, Antique, Legendary, Mythic |
| Purity | Strengthens the effect of existing bonuses (higher values) | Increases with refinement |
| Tier | Also increases the effect of bonuses | Increases through upgrading |
The class is the most important factor for the stone's versatility: a Raw Dragon Garnet has fewer possible bonuses than a Mythic one. Purity and Tier ensure that these bonuses are actually strong enough to remain relevant later in your progression.
All Classes of Dragon Garnet
Dragon Garnet passes through a total of six classes, from the lowest to the highest development stage. With each class, the number of possible bonuses increases.
| Class | Name | Special Feature |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Raw Dragon Garnet | Entry tier, low bonus count |
| 2 | Polished Dragon Garnet | First refinement tier |
| 3 | Rare Dragon Garnet | Middle class |
| 4 | Antique Dragon Garnet | Higher bonus count available |
| 5 | Legendary Dragon Garnet | High class with many bonuses |
| 6 | Mythic Dragon Garnet | Highest class, since version 19.0 (22.01.2019) |
The Mythic class was introduced with game version 19.0 on 22 January 2019 and represents the currently highest achievable class for all dragon stone types, including Garnet.
Dragon Garnet in the Context of All Stone Types
The dragon stone alchemy system currently includes seven different stone types, with Dragon Amethyst added as another type with version 23.2 on 26 July 2023. Each type has a different colour and a different effect on your character. Garnet stands alongside the following types:
- Onyx – unique effect
- Diamond – unique effect
- Ruby – unique effect
- Jade – unique effect
- Sapphire – unique effect
- Garnet – unique effect
- Amethyst – added in version 23.2
What specific effect Dragon Garnet has on your character can be seen in-game in the dragon stone overview. Since the exact bonuses may change depending on server version and balance updates, it is recommended to check the current description directly in your dragon stone inventory.
Obtaining Dragon Stones: Daily Quest from Level 30
One of the most reliable methods to collect dragon stones is the daily dragon stone quest. This is available for all characters at level 30 and above. By completing this quest regularly, you build up a supply of stones over time that you can use to refine your Dragon Garnet.
Dragon stone fragments also play a role within the alchemy system – they are standalone items within the dragon stone alchemy category. Those who want to farm dragon stones efficiently should keep both sources in mind: the daily quest and any in-game events where fragments or stones appear as rewards.
Practical Tips for Dragon Garnet Refinement
The system has a few quirks you should know about before investing resources:
- Class first: Before raising Purity and Tier, it usually makes sense to increase Class first. Higher classes allow more bonuses, making the stone fundamentally more valuable.
- Separate inventory matters: Dragon stones do not appear in your normal inventory. If you want to find or organise them, you must explicitly open the dragon stone inventory.
- Three levels improve independently: Class, Purity and Tier are independent of each other. You can bring a stone to Class 3 without touching Purity or Tier – this gives you flexibility in resource planning.
- Mythic is the endgoal: Those who invest in dragon stone alchemy long-term aim for Mythic stones. The path there is long, but the system is designed so that you can progress step by step.
- Compare stone types: Garnet has a specific effect. Before investing, check whether this effect actually makes sense for your class and playstyle.
