The Book of Horsemanship (also: Horse Skill Book) is an item in Metin2 that is linked to the horse quest. From Level 25 onwards, you can start the horse quest with the Stable Master and, once successfully completed, acquire your own horse – a significantly faster form of movement than on foot.

What is the Book of Horsemanship?

The Book of Horsemanship is a skill book that is directly linked to the horse mechanic in Metin2. It is connected to the skill "Call Horse" – the ability to summon your horse. The better you master this skill, the more reliably your summon attempt works. The Book of Horsemanship is known internationally by names such as Horse Riding Manual (EN), Manuel d'équitation (FR), or Libro Arte dell'Equitazione (IT).

Horses in Metin2: Basics

Horses are the classic mount in Metin2 and the primary way to move faster across the map. In addition to horses, there are other mounts available through events or the item shop. For the classic horse:

The "Call Horse" Skill and Mana Costs

The "Call Horse" skill indicates how well you can summon your horse. Each summon attempt costs mana points – the amount varies depending on the horse type:

Mana costs by horse type when calling
Horse Type Mana Cost per Summon Attempt
Normal Horse 100 MP
War Horse 200 MP
Military Horse 300 MP

The skill itself is improved by using the corresponding skill book (Book of Horsemanship / Horse Skill Book). The higher the skill level, the more reliably your horse will respond to your call.

Feeding Your Horse: What Does Each Horse Type Need?

A horse must be fed regularly – if it starves, it dies. How often you need to feed depends on the current level of your horse: the lower the horse level, the more frequent feeding is needed. Depending on the horse type, different food is also required. The exact food items for each horse type can be found in the Horse Care Manual, which opens when you click on your horse.

The Horse Care Manual

When you click on your horse in-game, the Horse Care Manual opens. The following actions are available:

Reviving Your Horse: Herb from the Monkey Dungeon

If your horse dies from starvation, it is not the end. You can revive it with a special herb. These herbs drop from the boss monkeys in the Monkey Dungeon (MD) – depending on the difficulty level:

Which herb type you need for your horse depends on your horse type. After collecting the herb, you go to the Stable Master, who will revive your horse with the herb. Important: You must have the herb with you.

Horse Sugar: Name + Defence

Since the patch on 9 June 2009, the so-called Horse Sugar is available in the item shop for 49 Dragon Coins. It offers two benefits at the same time:

Horse Sugar – Effects at a glance
Effect Details
Set Name Custom name for your horse for 30 days
Defence Increased +20 defence value for your horse

Horse Sugar is therefore both a cosmetic and a minor combat upgrade for your mount.

Levelling Your Horse: Scroll of Forgetting

Normally, levelling up a horse takes time. With the Scroll of Forgetting, you can skip this process and level your horse directly without waiting. The Scroll of Forgetting costs 25 Dragon Coins per use and is available in the item shop.

Other Mounts in Metin2

The classic horse is not the only mount in Metin2. There are a number of other mounts that you can acquire through events or directly in the item shop. These are often purely cosmetic but can also have special properties. However, the classic horse remains the only mount that is unlocked through its own quest – the horse quest from the Stable Master.
