TL;DR: The Bellflower is a quest herb in Metin2 for the Biologist Chaegirab (Level 4–25) and supplies Bellflower Juice via the Herbalism NPCs Baek-Go, Yu-Hwan and Huahn-So. It carries the designation "Research" and can only be dropped by specific monsters during the associated quest.

What is the Bellflower in Metin2?

The Bellflower is a special herb in Metin2 that is collected exclusively for Herbalism quests with the Biologist Chaegirab. It carries the internal designation "Research" – as opposed to regular herbs with the designation "Potion Brewing". This means: From Research herbs you cannot brew potions, and conversely the Biologist only accepts herbs with the Research designation. So if you collect regular herbs and bring them to the Biologist, you will be turned away.

The counterpart to the Bellflower in the crafting system is the Bellflower Juice, which can be obtained through Herbalism from corresponding raw materials.

Herbalism: Introduction and History

Herbalism was introduced to Metin2 with the patch of 17 July 2007. It forms a separate crafting system that allows players to have various potions made through special NPCs. At the same time, it is closely linked to a quest series around the Biologist Chaegirab, which specifically guides beginners between level 4 and level 25.

The system is divided into two areas: the quest component (gathering herbs for Chaegirab) and the potion brewing component (having herbs processed into potions). Both areas use herbs – but different types.

The Biologist Chaegirab and the Bellflower Quest

The Biologist Chaegirab is located on Map1 in a small camp. He is the central NPC for Herbalism quests and sends players between level 4 and level 25 multiple times to gather a specific number of special herbs – including the Bellflower.

Important Rules When Gathering

The complete quest series is documented under "The Biologist's Investigation (Bellflower)" and is one of several Biologist Investigation quests in Metin2.

Herbalism NPCs: Baek-Go, Yu-Hwan and Huahn-So Compared

For potion brewing from herbs, there are three specialised NPCs. Each covers a different progression tier. Here's an overview:

Herbalism NPCs and their offerings
NPC Location Potion Tiers Min. Level
Baek-Go Village 1 (Map1) Basic Potions 15
Yu-Hwan Village 2 (Map2) Basic Potions + Advanced Potions
Huahn-So Village 2 (Map2) & Donga Plains Village Basic + Advanced + Expert Potions

Baek-Go – Your Entry into Herbalism

Baek-Go can be found in Village 1 on Map1. He brews exclusively the four Basic Potions. Important: The "Herbalism" option only becomes available with him after you have completed the quest "Ingredient for Medicine" with him. Additionally, a minimum level of 15 is required to have potions brewed by Baek-Go.

Yu-Hwan – Basic and Advanced Potions

Yu-Hwan is located in Village 2 on Map2. He covers both the four Basic Potions and the four Advanced Potions. He is thus the first stop when you grow beyond beginner level and need more powerful potions.

Huahn-So – The Complete Herbalism NPC

Huahn-So is the most powerful of the three Herbalism NPCs. He can be found in both Village 2 (Map2) and the Donga Plains Village. As the only NPC, he can brew all three tiers: Basic Potions, Advanced Potions and the Expert Potions. This makes him the first choice for players at higher levels.

Bellflower Juice: The End Product

The Bellflower Juice is the processed product of the Bellflower within the Herbalism system. It is created as part of potion brewing and is a separate item in Metin2 – also known as "Succo di Campanula" (IT) or "Suc de Floare Clopoţel" (RO) in other languages. Details on its exact values and uses can be found on the corresponding item page.

Step-by-Step: Complete the Bellflower Quest with the Biologist

  1. Reach the Level: Make sure your character is between level 4 and level 25 – only in this range will Chaegirab activate the Herbalism quests.
  2. Find Chaegirab on Map1: He is located in a small camp on Map1. Accept the quest "The Biologist's Investigation (Bellflower)".
  3. Farm Bellflowers: The herbs with the designation "Research" only drop during the active quest from the specified monsters. Pay attention to your inventory limit.
  4. Turn in the herbs: Bring the gathered Bellflowers to Chaegirab. Note that the hand-in can fail.
  5. Unlock Herbalism with Baek-Go: After the Biologist quest, complete the "Ingredient for Medicine" quest and reach level 15 to get the Herbalism option from Baek-Go.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bellflower and Herbalism

Where does the Bellflower drop in Metin2?

The Bellflower with the designation "Research" drops exclusively during the active quest "The Biologist's Investigation (Bellflower)" from the monsters specified by Chaegirab on Map1.

Can I use the Bellflower for potions?

No. Herbs with the designation "Research" – including the Bellflower in its quest variant – cannot be used for potion brewing. They are exclusively intended for hand-in with the Biologist Chaegirab.

From what level can I do the Herbalism quests with Chaegirab?

Chaegirab gives his Herbalism quests to players between level 4 and level 25. Outside this range, the quests are not available.

Why won't the Biologist accept my herbs?

There are two common causes: Either you've gathered herbs with the designation "Potion Brewing" instead of "Research" – or the hand-in has simply failed, which is possible system-side. Only Research herbs are accepted.

Where do I find Baek-Go for Herbalism?

Baek-Go is located in Village 1 on Map1. The Herbalism option with him only becomes available after completing the quest "Ingredient for Medicine" and reaching level 15.

What's the difference between Baek-Go, Yu-Hwan and Huahn-So?

Baek-Go (Map1) brews only Basic Potions. Yu-Hwan (Map2) brews Basic and Advanced Potions. Huahn-So (Map2 and Donga Plains) is the only NPC who can additionally make all Expert Potions.

What is Bellflower Juice?

Bellflower Juice is a separate item in Metin2 that is created from the Bellflower as part of Herbalism. It is the processed end product and differs from the raw herb.

Can I gather Bellflower Research herbs unlimited?

No. The game limits the maximum number of Research herbs in your inventory to the amount you can still hand in with the Biologist. More cannot be picked up.
