Metin2 Baby Commander Pet Guide – Bonuses & Tips

Pets in Metin2 are animal companions that accompany your character visually and gameplay-wise. They are summoned via seal, have a defined duration (from 2 hours to unlimited) and grant you specific combat and experience bonuses depending on the model. Important: You can only have one pet active at a time. This guide shows you all known pets in comparison, explains their bonuses and gives you tips on which pet is most useful for your gaming goal.

What are Pets in Metin2?

Pets differ fundamentally from mounts like the horse: You cannot ride on them. Instead, they walk beside your character as companions and grant you passive bonuses or special effects. You can summon a pet as often as you like via its seal and dismiss it again. Some pets have time restrictions – the active time only counts when the pet is summoned, or the total duration counts from when you redeem the item.

Pets cannot be used together. So if you play with the Jade Phoenix, you cannot activate Baby Azrael at the same time. The choice of the right pet therefore depends directly on your current gaming goal: levelling phase, dungeon runs or special event quests.

The Best Pets for Combat and Levelling

When it comes to pure combat power, three pets are particularly relevant: the Jade Phoenix, Bambi and Baby Azrael. All three provide the same basic bonus of +15% Magic and Melee attack – a solid value for any class. The differences lie in the additional bonuses:

• Jade Phoenix: Additionally 50% chance for EXP Bonus. Ideal for players in the levelling phase who want to progress quickly.
• Bambi: +1500 HP and Alternative Drop. The HP increase makes it more solid for longer grinding sessions, the alternative drop can unlock certain drops.
• Baby Azrael: Also +15% Attack and +1500 HP, but with focus on specific dungeons – the bonuses apply from the 2nd Floor of the Demon Tower and Devil's Catacomb. For dungeon players therefore specifically interesting.

The Fire Phoenix has no bonuses but scores with unlimited duration. It is no longer regularly available (only via old DVD boxes) and is therefore a pure collector's item.

Pet Duration: Understanding Short-Term vs. Long-Term Variants

Many pets come in multiple duration variants. Bambi, for example, is available in three versions: 2 hours, 7 days and 21 days. The 2-hour version is suitable for targeted grinding sessions or to test whether the bonus is relevant for your setup. The 7- and 21-day versions pay off if you use the pet regularly in your daily routine.

Important: Check before purchasing whether the duration counts from redemption or from first activation. If you want to use a pet for an event or a planned grinding day, you should redeem it as close as possible to when you use it.

Event Pets: Young Reindeer and Seasonal Offers

The Young Reindeer is tied to the Christmas Event and therefore only available seasonally. You can get it either by activating a quest with the Christmas Man in the game or via the Item Shop. It has a duration of 2 hours or 20 days and activates the alternative drop – similar to Bambi.

Event pets have the advantage that they can be obtained for free through in-game quests. The Young Reindeer is therefore interesting for F2P players who are active during the Christmas Event. Keep an eye on Gameforge's event announcements so you don't miss the timeframe.

Combining Pets: What Works, What Doesn't

The most important rule: Pets cannot be activated together. You can have multiple pets in your inventory, but you can only summon one of them at a time. This means you need to decide consciously which pet you use in which situation.

A sensible strategy is to keep different pets for different game modes:

• Jade Phoenix for EXP-intensive levelling sections
• Baby Azrael for runs in the Demon Tower or Devil's Catacomb
• Bambi as an all-round option for grinding sessions outside of dungeons

If you own multiple pets, you can switch situationally – as long as the duration of individual pets is not wasted. Dismiss the active pet before switching to a situation where a different pet would be more effective.

Where Do You Get Pets in Metin2?

Most pets are available via the Item Shop from Gameforge. They are offered in various duration variants. Some pets are only temporarily in the shop (e.g. during events), others permanently. Keep an eye out on the official Metin2 site and in the game itself for promotions and limited-time offers.

Event pets like the Young Reindeer can also be earned through in-game quests. This requires active participation in the respective event. The Fire Phoenix was distributed as a special case via an old DVD box campaign and is no longer in regular circulation.
