Metin2 Anniversary Event Guide – Flags & Coins

The Anniversary Event celebrates Metin2's birthday and is accessible to all players from level 1. Monsters in the realms drop colourful party flags, which can be exchanged with event NPC Cake for birthday cake (100% EXP for 30 minutes) or up to 7 anniversary coins daily. With the coins you can then buy useful items from the anniversary merchant. Additionally, a boss hunter event runs in parallel with shadow warriors, as well as seasonal boosts to loot and experience.

What is the Anniversary Event?

Metin2 celebrates its anniversary annually in spring with a multi-part event. The game world is festively decorated, but monsters have stolen the colourful party flags – classic gameplay principle: farm flags, redeem with NPC, collect rewards. The event is expressly aimed at all players since no minimum level is required. Only the parallel boss hunter event requires at least level 30.

An important practical note from the official wiki: the event has occasionally ended 24 hours earlier than planned in the past and the NPCs have despawned prematurely. Redeem your flags, points and coins in good time – don't wait until the last hour.

Farm flags: How the birthday event works

While the event is active, regular monsters throughout the realms drop party flags. There is no special farming area – every mob can drop flags. This makes the event particularly beginner-friendly because low-level players can stay in their normal farming areas.

Bring the collected flags to NPC Cake, who can be found in the villages during the event. Cake offers you two exchange options:

• Birthday Cake: Exchange flags for a piece of birthday cake. The cake grants you a 100% EXP bonus for 30 minutes. Ideal for intensive grinding sessions or when you're planning a level push.
• Anniversary Coins: Up to 7 times daily you can convert flags into anniversary coins. The daily limit of 7 coins applies per player – plan your farming time accordingly to maximise your daily limit.

Anniversary coins are the main currency of the event. You use them with the Anniversary Merchant, who also visits the villages, to purchase a selection of useful items.

Use anniversary coins wisely

The Anniversary Merchant is the second important NPC alongside Cake. Its product range includes a selection of items you can exchange for anniversary coins. The exact composition of the offer varies depending on the anniversary year, as Gameforge regularly adjusts the product range.

General recommendation: Take a look at the current merchant's offer early in the event and prioritise items that bring the greatest benefit to your character or build. Since the daily limit is 7 coins, continuous daily play throughout the entire event duration is more efficient than individual marathon sessions.

Anniversary boosts: Loot and EXP bonuses

Parallel to the flag event, seasonal server boosts run during the anniversary. In 2024, these were specifically: up to 50% more loot and up to 100% more EXP in the period from 13 January to 28 January 2024. These bonuses apply server-wide and work independently of flag farming.

Combine the server boosts with the birthday cake (also +100% EXP) for maximum experience points per hour. Level jumps that you would normally put off for a long time can be reached much faster during the anniversary. The exact boost values and timeframes may vary depending on the anniversary year – check Gameforge's official event announcements for the current season.

Boss hunter event: Defeat shadow warriors

Besides flag farming, the Boss Hunter Event runs as a separate part of the anniversary. The prerequisite here is level 30. During the event, shadow warriors spawn on various maps in the realms.

What's special about the boss hunter system: for every hit on the shadow warrior you get points. This means that even if you don't hit the shadow warrior last or don't land the killing blow, you benefit from your participation in the fight. The points system rewards active participation, not just the final blow.

Twitch drops and other bonus content

For the anniversary, Gameforge regularly enables Twitch Drops. This means: anyone watching appropriate Metin2 streams on Twitch can receive additional items and rewards. Available drops and streaming periods will be announced by Gameforge before the event.

Twitch drops are an easy way to secure additional resources for your character without active play – particularly handy if you're already watching streams or like to have streams running in the background while playing.

Tips for maximum event efficiency

• Log in daily: The daily limit of 7 anniversary coins makes daily login during the event duration the most important single measure.
• Time your EXP boost: Activate the birthday cake (100% EXP for 30 minutes) in an area you can farm efficiently anyway. Don't use it during travel breaks.
• Use boost combination: Use birthday cake + server EXP boost together for maximum experience points.
• Redeem early: Don't wait until the last event day. In the past, the event ended earlier than announced – redeem flags, coins and points in good time.
• Check merchant's inventory: Look at the start of the event to see what items are available from the anniversary merchant and plan your coin budget accordingly.
• Level 30+ for boss hunter: If you're level 30 or higher, also participate in the boss hunter event. The shadow warriors on different maps offer extra points for each hit.

The Anniversary Event is one of the most accessible annual events in Metin2. Since there is no minimum level for the main event and flags are dropped by all monsters, both newcomers and long-time players benefit. Other annual events such as the Halloween Event, the Christmas Event or the Easter Event follow a similar pattern and can be tracked via the event UI in the game.
