Ancient/Medieval RPG in Browser – why Gladiatus?
You're looking for a role-playing game in a historical setting that you can start directly in your browser – no download, no installation, free of charge? Gladiatus transports you into the world of ancient Rome: You enter the arena as a gladiator, fight with swords, axes and spears, equip yourself with a helmet, breastplate and shield, and work your way up from a simple fighter to a legend. Free-to-Play, instantly playable, browser-based.
Setting: Ancient World with Swords, Armour and Arena
Gladiatus is set in ancient Rome. The central location is the Arena, which in the game is located in the city of Rome – inspired by the Colosseum. Each country has its own arena, but they are all connected to each other, allowing cross-server battles as well.
- Historical setting of ancient Rome
- Classic gladiator equipment: weapons, armour, shields
- PvP Arena as the heart of the game
- Free in browser – no client needed
The Arena – PvP Battles in the Colosseum
The Arena is unlocked from Level 2 onwards and is one of the main attractions of the game. You fight against other players in your level group – alone or as a team with your mercenaries. There are four arena areas:
- Arena – Ranked 1 vs. 1 battles on your server (from Level 2, automatic participation)
- Provinciarum Arena – random 1-vs-1 battles across servers (from Level 2, optional)
- Circus Turma – Ranked team battles with 1–5 fighters per team (from Level 10, optional)
- Circus Provinciarum – random team battles across servers (from Level 10)
Leagues and Ranking
Leagues are tiered by level, from the "League of the Circus Fighters" (Level 2–9) to the "League of the grace of the Gods II" (Level 100+). Those who hold the top rank in their league receive hourly gold and experience rewards.
Arena Rewards
- Experience – with every battle, regardless of victory or defeat
- Fame – by defeating higher-level opponents in the Provinciarum Arena
- Gold – through raids, hourly payouts or the "Pot" (bounty) of the top player
Weapons and Armour – Your Gladiator Equipment
Gladiatus offers a variety of weapons with different base values and attributes. The quality of an item is recognisable by its colour – from white (standard) through green, blue and purple to orange (strongest).
Weapon Types
- Short Sword, Broad Sword, Gladiatus
- Short Dagger, Sharp Dagger
- Trident Lance, Spear (Rare)
- Hammer, Clubs, Battle sickle
- Axe (Rare), Schiavone (Rare), Seax (Rare)
- Angel of Death, Gut Graze, Battle staff (Rare)
Prefixes and Suffixes
Weapons follow a prefix/suffix system: "Lucius Sword of Pain" combines, for example, a prefix and a suffix that provide additional values such as strength, agility or critical hit chance. Prefixes are generally more valuable than suffixes.
Armour Pieces
You can equip five armour pieces: Helmet, Gloves, Breastplate, Boots and Shield. Armour pieces are the most important source of value bonuses alongside jewellery.
Upgrades with Magus Hermeticus
From Level 10 onwards, you can improve the quality (colour) of items with the Magus Hermeticus – in exchange for gold coins and/or rubies. The maximum success rate that can be paid with gold alone is 25%; for 100% success, the remaining 75% must be paid in rubies.
