Overview: The Quarry in Ikariam
You can find a quarry on marble islands. There you can hire workers and extract marble once you have completed the research Prosperity (Economy).
Marble is counted among the luxury goods and is required for almost every building. Therefore, it makes sense to own several marble colonies to be able to build faster.
As with the sawmill, the expansion level of the quarry determines how many workers can produce marble at the same time. The quarry is expanded by all players on the island together by donating building materials.
Marble as a Luxury Good
Marble is a raw material and belongs to the luxury goods. Luxury raw materials are only available once you have researched Prosperity (Economy). Each island has a luxury raw material source.
You can access the luxury raw material source via the corresponding icon on the island map. On the source page, you can use the slider to set how many citizens should extract the raw material.
Optimising Production
There are two buildings that directly affect marble:
- Stonemason – increases marble extraction (production-enhancing building).
- Architect's Office – reduces marble costs for buildings. Unlocked via the Architecture research (Economy).
Production-enhancing buildings become available after researching Improved Raw Material Extraction (Economy).

The quarry is – like the forest at the sawmill – expanded by all players on the island together by donating building materials. The donation menu can be found on the left side of the raw material source page.
Farsighted rulers expand their quarries together with their island neighbours by donating wood.
