The Museum in Ikariam at a Glance
The Museum is the building in which you display your own art treasures as well as cultural artefacts from other players. With each expansion level, satisfaction increases by 20, and each new cultural artefact brings an additional 50 satisfaction.
In order to display foreign cultural artefacts, you must first conclude a Cultural Artefact Agreement (CAA) with another player. Such an offer can only be accepted if there is still a free display space available in one of your museums.
Research Requirements
To build a Museum, you must complete the Cultural Exchange research. This research additionally allows you to conclude Cultural Artefact Agreements and purchase Phoenician Trading Ships.
- Cost: 10.764 research points
- Requirements: Holiday Recreation (Economy) and Market (Seafaring)
Cultural Artefact Agreements (CAA)
Both players need a Museum to be able to conclude a Cultural Artefact Agreement. Requests are sent by mail by selecting "Offer Cultural Artefact Agreement" as the subject line. Received offers can be answered directly in the letter via "Accept" or "Decline" or via a reply message with the corresponding subject.
Only one Cultural Artefact Agreement is possible per player pair. You can find offers on your island's marketplace, the Agora or in the Ikariam Forum, amongst other places.
Impact on Conflicts
Agreement partners can continue to attack each other, however satisfaction in all cities would drop extremely as a result. Thus Cultural Artefact Agreements act like a kind of peace guarantee, even in the event of city or port occupations.
Termination
If one of the two partners terminates the agreement, the other receives a message that the dissolution will take effect in 48 hours. During this time, the contract partner can still prepare for possible attacks.
Museum Expansion Levels
With each level, construction time and resource costs increase, whilst the satisfaction bonuses and the number of displayable cultural artefacts grow.

History: Bug in Version 0.3.0
In version 0.3.0, there was an error that allowed unlimited Cultural Artefact Agreements to be accepted – even when the museums were already full and the player themselves could no longer offer their own art treasures. This bug was fixed in version 0.3.1.
