Ikariam Alliances: Membership and Benefits
An alliance is a group of players who join together to play collectively and support each other economically and militarily. Joining an alliance is a good way to get to know other Ikariam players.
To join an alliance or found one, you need an embassy. As a member, you also have access to your own alliance forum, alliance chat and the alliance highscore, for which you collect points together.
Founding and Joining
You can join an existing alliance if you have at least 1 diplomacy point. To found your own alliance, you need an embassy. For other players to be able to apply to your alliance, the alliance must have sufficient free diplomacy points.
Leaving an alliance only becomes effective after 24 hours. After leaving, you cannot join a new alliance for 24 hours. To help your alliance grow, you should transfer diplomacy points to your alliance – via the embassy in the left menu under "Transfer diplomacy points".
Joining an existing alliance
- In the island view, click on the city of a player. Behind the alliance name, a scroll appears, which opens the application window.
- Via the alliance highscore: Behind each alliance name there is also a scroll that opens the application window.
Diplomacy Points
You need diplomacy points for most treaties. You obtain these by constructing or expanding embassies. Each embassy gives you its expansion level + 2 in diplomacy points. You can therefore only conclude a limited number of treaties – choose your partners carefully.

Positions in an Alliance
There are four different positions in an alliance. Each position offers certain benefits. When founding an alliance, the leader automatically holds all offices.
Leader
- Receives a small amount of bonus resources every day, depending on the number and power of alliance members.
- Can change the alliance name and the alliance tag.
- Can assign the offices of Diplomat, General and Minister of Interior.
- Can dissolve the alliance.
- Can appoint a new leader, provided they have enough free diplomacy points.
Minister of Interior
- Responsible for accepting and removing members.
- Can view the resources of all alliance members.
- Can determine and assign ranks within the alliance.
- Can edit the internal alliance page, which is only visible to members.
General
- Can view all troops and warships of all members.
- Can view all attacks from or against members.
- Can recall attacks from alliance members.
Diplomat
- Can edit the external alliance page, which is displayed to non-members.
- Can manage alliance treaties.
- Can view the allied partners of all alliance members.
- Receives messages sent to the alliance.

What do I need to join an alliance?
You need an embassy and at least 1 diplomacy point to be able to join an existing alliance.
How many diplomacy points does an embassy provide?
Each embassy provides its expansion level + 2 in diplomacy points. An embassy at level 1 therefore provides 3 points, an embassy at level 10 provides 12 points.
What happens when I leave an alliance?
Leaving an alliance only becomes effective after 24 hours. After that, you cannot join a new alliance for 24 hours.
